Dear Brothers & Sisters and all Families,

I wanted to inform everyone that their will be Picnic tickets available on site at our Local 1 2006 Family Picnic on August 12th to start @ 10:30 a.m. rain or shine. The cost of the day will be $43.00 per adult & $18.00 per child ages 4-12 . Also whether your able to attend or not, their is still tickets available for Local Ones "SUPER RAFFLE", winner need not be present. Support your local, even ask people who are not Local One members about purchasing Super Raffle tickets , the prizes are UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Their will also be some people from other locals in the IUEC in attendance.

Being involved in YOUR UNION is a very special and rewarding experience. I have from day 1 considered being a Local 1 UNION member a privilege! We need to all be more involved. We need to ALL educate "ONE " another. We all need to organize and get together as brothers and sisters more often. Like a family. Whats a better place to get to know that brother or sister working alongside  you then to meet him/her with their families? Please be part of the solution , not the problem. Thanks for your time .

LETS GET TOGETHER!!

                  Respectively Submitted

                   Brother Brian Link

Looking forward to seeing everyone at The Family Picnic

To my brothers Mike Murphy, Charles Yeager, Jim Castle, Ed Moore, Randy Kacer…All the boys at MSK Bobby Papa, Danny Smith, Frank Piergovanni, modernization crews All the boys uptown GU, My brothers and sisters in GYP and GD. All my brothers and sisters in the Repair Dept, Mod, Open Order….. Heartfelt thanks for your abundant generosity. You guys afforded me blessings beyond any reasonable expectation. A Debt of gratitude can be repaid but the Debt of Love can’t ever be repaid, to love a brother is a work in progress, a lifelong commitment…. I have contributed in the past to various needs and I’m certain we all have been as generous as the each individual circumstance permitted.. But during this difficult time that I’m going through I’ve been taught a lesson, A lesson that will not soon be forgotten…  a lesson of unconditional love. I personally do not know many of those that gave so generously but I assure We felt the love ..the genuine concern and the most important The LOVE…. Because of your gift my needs have been met, my yoke is easy and my burden has been lighten…

I shall never forget……On behalf of my family…..

Myself, Genevieve Colon, Gina Colon, Robert Colon, Marisett Rios, Elijah Rios, Jenel Rios Colon and Baby Nyla Rios…

THANK YOU…

Mike and Charlie…Love you both..We need to make some time and raise a few..

On behalf of my family once again.. I would like to thank each and everyone of my brothers and sisters in the GD and GU office for their generosity in our time of need.To my brothers Charles Yaeger and Eddie Moore.. deep thanks for their efforts on my behalf.. It is actions instead of words that define the word help…The word help has many variations.. To give assistance or support in time of need, to make more pleasant or bearable : IMPROVE, RELIEVE RESCUE, SAVE to be of use to : BENEFIT: to further the advancement of : PROMOTE or to change for the better.. Regardless of which meaning one fancies.. The End result is the same.. an effort was made to lessen the burden on a brother or a sister’s shoulder. We all face or will eventually face tragedy in our lives, but it isn’t till it happens to you and a brother uplifts you that one can begin to grasp how timely, needed and beneficial a helping hand can be when we find ourselves in dire straits…

It’s Ironic how one minute I gloated and spoke enthusiastically about retirement and in one instant I now face uncertainty and despair…On the upside of things I DO HAVE the winning situation, for I Have god in life and he will sustain through this difficult journey and to brighten things up a notch  I’ve been blessed by many brothers and sisters. And one characteristic in particular of all of us here in Local One is the ability to put our differences aside when one brother suffers and come together as one body to the aid that brother.. The outporing of support is beyond measure and absolutely indispensable…There is this book that I often read and  in closing I would like to quote just to concepts from two of it’s contents..“Do unto others as you would like others to do unto you…” and a bit further it states…..” for norgreater love exist in the heart of a man , than for that man to give his life for a friend…” It didn’t say Mother, Father, Brother or Sister it said FRIEND…Indeed for quicker will a friend come to your aid than your own brother........

God bless you all…

Thanks Brothers and Sisters for that post card on the applications dates....
.
I was sent away from the front desk of the local today, because there is enough people through the application period. With no paperwork, maybe I should have been more persistent, about getting the applications.

I just heard about it, from another brother the other day....

.   What happened to informing us in the field?  I don't pick up the Daily News.  Somewhere we lost touch? All I wanted was the application forms(3 of them) for the other brothers who just heard about it at the airport. Maybe the Local can send it to me. I just wasted 2 hours in traffic. So, I could hear," sorry we're full".

Let a brother or sister know.

Writing on a blog is helpful, but only if you know it exists. Let other people know, pass the word... It could be very important.....

Hello Brothers and sisters,

Hopefully everyone is staying cool during this heat of lately. Lets all stay involved in our unions and our communities. Unions are under attack all over our nation. Some judge in Maryland just reversed the Health Care coverage that was going to be mandatory of all Big Box Retailers especially Walmart. Please don't shop at Walmart, this company is bad for working families of America. Just say no to Walmart any company that doesn't feel it is necessary to treat their workers with dignity, all we are asking for brothers and sisters is fair wages??? And healthcare?

Please get involved !!! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Local 1 union picnic! I would also like to let everyone know , we are only as strong as our weakest LINK! Please read your contract please protect our work!! Please inside and outside of Local One , BE EDUCATED on the real issues. Continue to work safe , continue to reach out and help others less fortunate then you and I. We live in the greatest country in the world. Appreciate what WE all have , an opportunity to make a difference. I will as always remain an educated , involved and truly proud union member of Local 1 IUEC.

I have been reading many other Locals website regarding their resolutions they will be bringing to our 29th convention, I would like to see the Local One Resolutions on this website??? Just a thought, hopefully everyone is doing well. Work Safe Stay Involved and Remain Educated!!!

To Jimmy Castle and all my brothers and sisters from the GYP office... It is with a humbled heart and deepest gratitude that I thank you for the Bouquet of Flowers you sent us in this hour of immeasurable sorrow.. It is a times like this that true friendship and family ties promote healing, comfort, acceptance of God’s will and closure. Although I may not be familiar with some of my brothers and sisters from that office.. the true spirit of Local 1 brotherhood shined through and in true Christianity style…when one member suffers we all suffer. It was extremely pleasing to me personally to receive such a timely show of love and support.. it made all the difference in the World… we were deeply moved And I shall never forget the kindness

It was comforting to me and my family to be remembered by my my co-workersThank you….

As usual, Good Brother Tom Moore is right on the beam. If anyone has their fingers on the pulse of what's going it's him. But he's right, the Event in the summer is on, and it's on in a big Local One way. This year is going to be the year of the Kid, our goal is to put a major smile on every kid that comes to the great day.

Tom is also right in saying that we still need help. Get involved in the journal, it's not to late to get a family sentiment or a job site page. Our next and last committee meeting will be Aug. 2nd, at the hall.

Don't forget that this year along with all our usual games, food and fair, we've added a few new items...climbing wall and that DUNK TANK, with that certain Local One celeb that volunteered to ride the plank.

Soooooo come out and have Great Local One Day.

P.S. Where did you ever see a super raffel ticket like that?

First of all, the Local One Pipe Band would like to thank the Local One Riders for coming out yesterday at the Rockland County Competition, it was nice being the only band with their own motorcycle gang!!!!

And as far as the competition goes we did it again, 2nd place out of more than ten bands!!!

We'll try our best over the next few weeks and try to win at Hunter Mountain in Aug.

Thanks again to the riders and all the Local One guys that were there!!!!!!  It really means a lot!!!!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I am really looking forward to this years Local 1 Union Picnic. Although I was disappointed that we didn't have it last year, lets make this years picnic the best ever. I also want to say a few words regarding many members not knowing the latest contract that we all should have Voted on? Please brothers and sisters take some time and read the contract over and over . How can we protect our working agreement If we don't know the specifics? I do not want to look back , but those of you who know me, know I was not for the last contract. But I will protect and abide by the one in place. How can our elected officials know what we want If we don't inform them , most of all , If you have a ??? please please talk to your shop steward before you make your OWN decision !! ITS ALL ABOUT BEING EDUCATED!!!!

Without getting into specifics, we need to communicate better with one another. We need to keep each other informed of whats going on . We need to get to as many union meetings as possible. We need not only to get more involved in our own union, but we need to be more involved in our communities. Do you vote for labor friendly politicians? Please take the time and get involved, you owe It to your family. Dont sit idle and say what happened ?? Their are many issues going on the world which are a direct result of whether we are part of the problems or we get involved and at least TRY to be part of the solution.

Well I hope everyone Is enjoying this Hot Hot weather we have been having . My south shore cannonball is "Almost" back to its perfection that it was at during the EMANY induced lockout.

I will ALWAYS remain and educated , involved and truly concerned and proud member of Local 1. Work safe and continue to reach out to others less fortunate then you and I .

      Respectfully submitted Brother Brian Link
