Now that we have succeeded in New Jersey to be able to get our bill signed into law let's now put all of our efforts on helping Mike Halpin and the rest of the committee to get The Elevator and Escalator Safety Bill signed into law in the State of New York.

It is a great feeling when everyone works together to make something great happen and we were able to accomplish this in the State of NJ.

I have been warning my union brothers four years that the private sector unions should stay out of the battle defending government unions. We have nothing in common. Besides our self it is the bosses and the shareholders who suffer, not the general public.

I know that it was only a matter of time when these actions to support government unions would backfire on us. I warned that as a result of our actions it would be a move to institute right to work laws in all the states. It now appears to have started in Michigan.

Congratulations To local 1 and local 5 on having the Governor of NJ sign the Elevator safety bill for NJ. I know a lot of work went into making this happen.. A great victory for organised labor.
It will mean a lot of work for the locals.

As some of you may have already heard Governor Christie has signed the elevator safety bill into law in New Jersey. This marks a great victory for our local. I would like to take this time to acknowledge a few Brothers who worked hard to make it happen.  Thank you Brothers Lenny Legotte, Fred McCourt, Dennis O'neill and Ed Loomis of Local 5, without their hard work and dedication this bill would have never gotten off the ground.

A recent hearing sponsored by the Treasury and Labor Departments marked the beginning of the Obama Administration’s effort to nationalize the nation’s pension system and to eliminate private retirement accounts including IRA’s and 401k plans, NSC is warning.

 

The hearing, held in the Labor Department’s main auditorium, was monitored by NSC staff and featured a line up of left-wing activists including one representative of the AFL-CIO who advocated for more government regulation over private retirement accounts and even the establishment of government-sponsored annuities that would take the place of 401k plans.

Brother Assalone, I know this is a very difficult election for many people for a lot of reasons. Do a youtube search on how Romney feels about labor. There are a few videos of him speaking that may give you some thought. He speaks about several issues, Davis Bacon,card check, Pac, and other union issues that concern us all, very eye opening.

I hope to see a great turnout for brother Dunnigan. Billy is one of the best and most genuine guys I have had the pleasure to meet and I know a lot of us feel the same way about him. We all know his situation and I know that as Local 1 Brothers and Sisters we are going to do what we do best... take care of our own. So come out and support Billy not just to say thanks for all his hard work and dedication, but to let him know we all have his back.

Bill lindsay you are so right ,union brothers voting for Romney is like voting for unemployment. Then you will hear them blame the union when the republicans are giving thier work to scabs. Use your head Brothers and sisters. Vote for the people who put food on your table,not for the ones who want to take it off your table. You owe it to your family. Read who votes for labor . It is on your computer !!!
