card number 82 Comments: "A union member voting republican is like a rabbit voting for hunting season to open" Kentucky labor secretary J.R Gray. It breaks my heart to hear union brothers repeating Fox News bullshit.I'm not completely happy with the last four years.I've been unemployed for most of the last three years but i still believe in the union movement and plan to vote for friends of labor.Republicans for the most are not and Mitt Romney is anti-union!!!Management mocks us for the large percentage of union members who vote against their own interest ,labor. fraternally Bill Lindsay

card number 192 Comments: As I sit down with my family going through our plans for the month of August it saddens me that for the first time in my 36 yrs of life that we do not have a Local One picnic to attend. I hope this opens a lot of eyes around this local that staying involved and participating in events like these are not only necessary but a privilege to have. Hopefully this is not a permanent situation and next year we not only get the picnic back but also make our best effort to go and enjoy a great family day. I don't want to give up on this tradition and am sure many Brothers and Sisters on the same page. Stay United and we will stay strong. Joe Harrison #192
card number 4057 Comments: Today I crossed a Pickett line formed by the District Council of Carpenters, not one BIG INFLATED RAT but two! The reason was justified........ "We are good on that job"......" Your employer has met our contract" ........" Its only the Carpenters line"....... " Its the way it is"................I returned home tonight and picked up THE CONSTRUCTOR ---Correspondent Dan Andrews wrote a concise article about labor day.... mentioning -----Peter J. McGuire, General Secretary of the Carpenters and Joiners suggested the Labor Day Holiday, 100 years ago. HE GOT IT. I will march in September and never cross a PICKETT line again. Sorry General Secretary Mcguire.

card number 2848 Comments: As I read this story about this t shooting in Aurora I try to figure what is going so wrong in our society that the youth of today are doing these horrific acts against their fellow man but can't make any sense out of it, we all as a nation better stand back, take a hard look and try and put an end to the killing of innocent people, who just are trying to enjoy life, my heart and prayers go out to the families of this tragedy

Remind the ex local 3 guys also, alot of them still not sure how vacation works. Lets remember all the brothers + sisters out there that are still out of work, whether lack of work or sick, and struggling to just get by. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We should help them more often, not just the holiday season. its alway better to be on the giving end, than the receiving end!!!!!!!!!!!!!
card number 1056 Comments: 5 years ago I finished working the Times building and then Novortis, got laid off for ten months, then worked in Las Vegas for 14 months. Was laid off for 3 years. Now working on and off at the Empire State Building as an operator. My dream is to work with my tools. I guess my theory of no company will pick a female from a layoff list is coming true. I am a good mechanic and deserve a job. My feeling of fileing an EEOC may happen soon. Just saying.
