card number 2757 Comments: I hope I don't regret this post, but here goes,On or about March 5th or 6th,The discovery channel will be airing at 6 pm,it takes a thief, and that episode is the one my family is on.Arghh,I feel ill writing this,I haven't seen it,so I don't know what it will look like,I just know it was fun and it was exhausting,The cast and crew were great, but we wore microphones and lived with camera's for 3 days.God only knows what they kept and what they edited,I cant believe my family is on a DVD set.We are so nervous, the down side is ,well there is nothing we can do about it now and my ex-husband who rents the shed and garage was there and I slammed the door in his face for weaseling his way onto my episode and I asked the producer if they cut that out and the producer said ,He couldn't tell us, but that they never laughed so hard and its there favorite episode, so I really am nervous. So set your tivo's ,get ready to laugh ,the Nielsens are coming to the discovery channel,Hmm can you here that Munster music in the background?1313 mockingbird lane.

It goes to show that the union brotherhood in this trade is still strong and powerfull. After what happened in local 1 we can say that we can stand tall and proud to be in this union. You have set the high standard for all of us to fallow. thank you

card number 1613 Comments: Brothers & Sisters,
I am sorry to inform you of the passing of retired member Dalton Noble. The arrangements are as follows:
Kennedy-Roth Funeral Home Thursday 2/22/2007 7:00pm - 9:00pm
card number 1347 Comments: How about some GOOD news about a Local One Member? Congratulations to Stephen Dutton, son of Local 1 member Stephen Dutton. Stephen convincingly won the Suffolk County High School Wrestling Championships @ 119lbs. He will heading up to the State Tournament on March 2nd/3rd in Albany NY. He crushed the competition with 2 pins , 1 decision and a tech fall in Finals. Great accomplishment for any kid , but he is only 14 years old and a freshman" @ Hauppauge High School . Being an extremely involved and proud parent myself , I want to commend Stephens dad for all his hard work and sacrifice to assist and guide his son. Stephen is the owner of Noble Elevator here @ Local 1. We need to recognize people for their commitments, whether at work or at home. I am very proud of the entire Dutton family. Its all about being involved, its all about thinking about others, whether its your kids , your co workers or your neighbors. Once again , I may have been a bit long in my post. Stephen & I grew up in the same neighborhood, we wrestled together in High School & we have remained friends over the years. We are all brothers here @ Local one, and I am extremely proud of my brother Stephen Dutton " the dad " & THE SUFFOLK COUNTY CHAMPION Stephen Dutton ! Congratulations to the entire Dutton Family! *** Thanks for reading Brother Brian Link
card number 25 Comments: It comes with great sadness to inform you that we lost approximately 2400 members including myself. To what I don't know. The turn out at last meeting was the worst considering what could have been one of the biggest changes in the history of the UNION. Some have a good reason for not showing up due to the fact of working OT or School. Those are the only valid reasons for not be there. There are other things that due come up but come on just under 10% of the membership shows up.there should be 75% attendance at all meetings. I feel very proud of being a member of Local 1 for the past 20 yrs. To all the new card holders read Brian Links posts you Will learn from him. To anyone who is offend by my post then you don't know the meaning of strength and solidarity
Work Safe.
card number 392 Comments: 10 votes! 264 present. does it matter if the vote passed or not when a majority of the membership doesnt give a crap anyway? Brian Links posts should explain the rest.
card number 1613 Comments: Brothers & Sisters,
The results of the vote on the Constitution revision are as follows:
YES - 127 No - 137
card number retired Comments: Hey Ronnie L. and Joe D. from Putnam Lake. Let's meet at the "Lost Lake Cafe" for breakfast. I'm buying! I'm talking extra toast and coffee! 845-621-2436
card number 1347 Comments: Dear Brothers & Sisters, This Thursday February 15th we have a VERY IMPORTANT UNION meeting , same place same channel. WE will be voting on the complete revision of our Constitution/ by laws. For those members who actually ARE concerned about your very near future here in Local One you should GET involved !!! Their will be many questions addressed and more importantly answered . It is really up to the members to right the ship. It is really up to the members to make a choice to get involved and make a difference. I am very interested in what will transpire over the next 3 or 4 more months. I refuse to sit idly by and not challenge other members, whether It's for their PAID working card , or just to talk or even try to understand their stance of why they continue to NOT be involved. This union will only improve If the members ACTUALLY put Local One First, this union will only improve if we as dues paying members actually are concerned for that brother or sister working next to you everyday. I am very disappointed when I go to a union meeting and regardless of the attendance, nobody goes up to the mike? But yet everyone on the street is full of ideas of how to better this union? Lets start by attending YOUR union meetings . Their is a very important election coming up in June 2007. When you make any decision which is as important as WHO WILL LEAD Local One? When you make any decision which is as important as WHO WILL LEAD OUR COUNTRY? These are extremely important positions that will determine the future here @ Local One and OUR COUNTRY! Their is two issues that are extremely important to LEAD they are EDUCATION and PASSION. Of course their are many other qualities , but without education and passion for the bigger cause " Not for your personal gain" , you will always have a problem . Not just here in Local One..............
I will as always remain extremely involved, educated and a truly concerned proud member of Local One. Look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting February 15th . Work safe and look after one another, we only have each other Respectfully Submitted Brother Brian Link ***To everyone who is as fortunate as me to have someone special in your life , your wife , your daughter, your mom your son , your dad ........ Count your blessings & Happy Valentines Day
card number 195 (retitred) Comments: I would like to thank all the people who came to the retirement party last month. It was a good turnout and a good idea to bring all the brothers that retired the year before in one place. Maybe with some work it could become a yearly tradition. It might work towards ending that stifling apathy that seems to be affecting the membership of late. Brothers, it is your union!! Go to meetings. They affect your life. BE ACTIVE!!!!!
Rich A.
card number Retired Comments: Just a quick Thank You to the local and specifically Mike Halpin for putting together the party for the recently retired brothers. My wife and I had a wonderful time, the food was excellent and the Pipers did a great job of entertaining us. It was gratifying to see the brothers and sisters who turned out to honor us...it was a pleasure to see a few friends that I hadn't seen in a while. Thanks again and work safe...even around the house! ThePfeif
card number 133 Comments: To all of the brothers and sisters of local 1, I have been retired for four years now, and after being divorced for 27 years, I got married again over two years ago. We have built a small ranch home on an acre of land in the town of Monmouth, Maine. It is just the right size for the two of us. For those of you who are getting ready to retire, I would suggest that you do not drop your health insurance. I am really glad that I kept mine. If any of you are ever in Maine, please feel free to visit.
Best wishes to all,
John Appese, retiree

Thanks Bro. Mario Vic
card number 1347 Comments: Hello brothers and sisters, Everyone has the opportunity to get involved and make a difference in their lives at home and at work. We will be having general elections in June 2007, we need to focus on what is best for the entire membership of Local One IUEC. We need to put people in these positions who will ALWAYS do what is best for the entire membership of Local 1. Many of these decisions facing Local One will not be " Popular", we need to begin the healing process here @ Local One, we need to realize that some of these decisions already made by our leaders are not popular but are what is needed to right the ship. We need to be proactive, we need to be EDUCATED as members, we need to stop talking out of turn, unless you REALLY know what your are talking about. I am very grateful for the opportunity I have at Local One. I am very proud of what I do for a living, I will continue to challenge myself and the rest of the members of Local One to be better, to be positive, to work together as part of a much bigger picture then " whats in it for me? ". We must understand unions didn't get with they are today without sacrifice. Society today is filled with a certain very poor attitude of "let somebody else do it, or I did my share already. All I am asking is ??? Please ask yourself , how can I help Local One be a better organization? We need people who are going to put the membership first, approximately 2600 plus members , that's a nice size group that I strongly believe is full of great knowledge and great ideas. Knowledge is power! We need a bigger percentage of our membership involved. Continue to work safe, continue to challenge each other for a paid union card. I will continue to be an involved , educated and truly proud member of the IUEC here @ Local One. The February meeting needs to be standing room only , some more good ideas will be brought up in front of the membership regarding the constitution/bylaws revisions. Thank you to all the member who have emailed me or brought up many VERY good ideas ..........just remember Its not all about you and me Its about what is best for Local One . Respectfully Submitted Brother Brian Link
card number 42 Comments: Having been in this industry and a Union member for over 32 years, I find it very disrespectful and insulting to all Local #1 members, the crap that is posted on that other web site. That site is open to EVERYONE, and all of our EMPLOYERS, it's going to look real good for us when the next contract goes around.
