card number 743 Comments: Brothers and Sisters, Today is Sept.11,2006. 5years have passed since that terrible day. 3000 people said goodbye to their families, loved ones and friends that morning. It was a day like any other. Who knew that they had spent their last weekend together with family and friends. My wife Kathleen passed away on June 11. 3 months ago today. She was only 48,we were married 27 years. My heart is broken and I will never be the same. My mother died Feb.20,2006.My father died at the end of 2002, somedays my grief is overwhelming. The point I am trying to make is this! Tell your wife that you love her, tell your husband that you love him. Say I love you as many times as you can. Say I am crazy about you to your boyfriend, tell your girlfriend I am mad about you. Kiss your kids until your lips hurt. Appreciate all the people in your life. Tell all your friends how you feel about them. Life is short and too soon gone. The bitterest tears shed at a wake are for words left unsaid. To love and be loved is God's great gift.Say it again and again, nobody will ever get tired of hearing it! I want to thank all of you for the mass cards and the flowers, and thanks to all who came to Kathleen's wake to comfort my family and pay their respects.
Sincerely Yours Bill Bennet

card number 1347 Comments: What a perfect day for the Labor Day Parade today!!!!!!! Once again Local Ones Pipe & Drums let the march and made us all very proud. Both brothers Bill Madden and Denis Steel are doing an excellent job and they like always sounded GREAT. I was honored to help carry the banner. We could always use more involvement when we do these events. Well on another subject, please get involved in your local elections ! Please do your homework and find who supports Labor? Who supports working families? Their were some major players " Politicians" at todays parade. Lets all stay involved in all our unions, our families and our communities. Like everything else in life we MUST be educated regarding all decisions we make not only in our unions. We all must understand the ramifications FOR NOT being educated ! for Not being informed! for NOT actually being involved ! whether its at work whether its as a parent, as a spouse or a brother/sister to those we care about! I also would like to sends my thoughts and prayers to Denis Kilduff and the entire Kilduff family on the loss of brother Kevin Kilduff . Although I never personally met Kevin, I can attest he comes from very fine cloth!!! His brother Denis is one of the finest Local 1 Union members I have ever met. May Kevin rest in peace and may God grant the entire family with the strength to endure this tragedy. Please remember that the Local Schools are open DRIVE Safely. For all of us who have children , please spend the time with your children, they grow up so fast , be part of their lives , you will be a better person for it. I also would like to take a moment and wish nothing but great results and resolutions at the International Convention next week. As always I remain an Educated , Involved and truly proud member of Local 1 IUEC . Lets continue to work safe, work together and Stay United Respectfully Submitted Brother Brian Link

card number 14 Comments: Business Manager Ray Hernandez has reassigned all of the BA's areas. My area is now New Jersey, East Side of Manhattan, and Rockland County (check the web site "contact officers" for all the changes). If all the stewards in these areas can contact me at 732-558-1779, I would greatly appreciate it. Semper Fi, Frederick McCourt
card number 1347 Comments: To all members of Local One , There will be a Union meeting this Thursday , same place same channel. It would be nice to see some new faces there! I also would like to let everyone know , we will be voting on the death assessment (due to loss of 8 members this year) may they all rest in peace. Any union is only as good as its Membership. I am always wondering why we should't have a better showing at our meetings? We tell our kids and our families to be involved? We tell our kids YOU can make adifference? We tell ourselves , if it is to be its up to me? So why when your families and your own lively hood depend on being Involved? Why do you sit idly bye and watch or even ignore our UNION ? S&#! or get off the pot. Get involved , make a difference at work at home and in your choice of faith. As one group we can make a BIG DIFFERENCE I challenge any of the regulars at our meeting to bring , beat or drag 1 member who usually doesn't attend to the next meeting. Be responsible for at least yourself brothers and sisters . Hopefully everyone had a great summer. Hopefully some of you will get more involved? Lets bring this this union back to front . Lets lead by example. I also would like to thank the elected officials for keeping us informed as a local !!! If you have any questions ??? Bring them to the next meeting , ask your shop steward? If you cant make all the meetings try to make some? The Labor day parade is this Saturday, Sept 9th and Its always a great time for the whole family . Most of all continue to work together , assist those less fortunate then us. I will as always remain an educated , involved and concerned member of Local 1 . Lets also reach out to the rest of the members in the IUEC and assist them in their upcoming contact in July 2007. They have many concerns , lets not forget we are all brothers & sisters , we are family. Respectfully submitted Brother Brian LInk An extremely proud member of Local 1 since 1982
