card number 2383 Comments: Much deserved thanks and and kudos to Brother Tom Moore. Tom, your dedication to presenting issues to the membership, that are not only very important to us , but to ALL hard working people, is not recognized enough. Thanks for all of your posts.

card number 192 Comments: Dear Brothers And Sisters, We as an organization need to open our eyes to how serious the threat of Non-Union work being performed in our area is going to affect us.I recently was on a job in Brooklyn where they just erected their THIRD hoist using a Non-union shop. I am not talking about operating the car, they are doing the installation of these hoists. I challenged the "men" working for the hoist company and they gave me the song and dance about they would not have a problem taking a Local 1 guy on. The B.A. in the area did come to the job the next day and hopefully something could come out of this. The point I am trying to make is, that we need all the help we could get at this time. Every job counts, make sure we as members protect our own work. If we don't no one else will. Work Safe

card number 1347 Comments: Happy Fathers day to all fathers grandfathers sons uncles and all Fathers. Please enjoy the day with your family. Regarding the last few posts? How do I feel? Not good on the content, but I'm real encouraged that people I finally paying attention with Unions in general , and specifically here in Local 1 and all IUEC locals . Life is full of challenges, Its how we adress these issues that decides our livelyhoods, get involved, the whole idea or strength in Unions is decided by One Thing numbers, how many people are involved ?? Enjoy the day !! Why Not? Its Our futures. United We Stand Divided we suffer Be Part of the solution Not the problem Respectfully submitted Brother Brian Link stay educated, involved and concerned in your Local
card number 1634 Comments: I think it's time to bring the union meetings back to Queens - Mahattan just doesn't seem to be working. We got more people to attend on a snowy February night in Queens than we did on a sunny June day in Manhattan.
So much for making it more convenient for the members.
card number 1179 Comments: Happy Fathers Day.
Enjoy this time with your families.
Have a safe day,
Brother Tom Moore
card number 1179 Comments: Dear Brother Jim: Local One IUEC is still fighting to retain our stake in the operations of elevators. We have over 2800 members in this local and the operations of cars is roughly around 150 members. It is less then 10% of the work that we do. So why would you cut out a business agent if we lost 10 percent of our work. Who takes care of the other 90% of the membership? Work safe and get involved with the process. Brother Tom Moore
card number 2239 Comments: I've never seen this before. These turnouts are not good at all .What's best for the Organization is a question we must all ask ourselves. Especially our elected officials.

Brothers & Sisters: We need more people out there doing work for the Union full time not less. Is there more non union out there or less. I know there is more non union out there today and it is getting bigger everyday. Work safe and get involved with the process. Brother Tom Moore
card number 2239 Comments: I have one ?.Why do we still need a 4th Business Agent being that we lost the majority of the outside hoist work to the Engineers.

card number 1347 Comments: Good Morning Brothers & Sisters, Being an educated union member WE can't ignore how important it is to be prepared! If you fail to plan , you plan to fail. Regarding some posts on change??? Change if planned, usually is a good thing, the "key" word regarding change is not just the thinking part its all about being EDUCATED! Life is full of changes , Change can be "uncomfortable", we become creatures of habit, we sometimes become complacent. I am not only talking about our union or our international, or even our labor affiliation. I'm talking about " life". Don't do the same thing over & over and expect different results! Unless of course you are truly happy with the results. We have become so busy and involved in our everyday lives, some of us have given our VALUES a backseat. Do yourself a favor, absorb all that is going on in the world ( in your local community at home and at work) then make an EDUCATED decision and make a positive choice. Ask yourself? Whats important? for yourself? for your family? both at home and at work. If you can assist someone , just do it! the reward of helping others is such a satisfying feeling. Please be a giver not a receiver. Lets all start as UNION members by attending as many union meetings as possible. I cant stress enough how important it is to KNOW your contract, how can you protect our work? when you haven't read your contract ? Keep checking union cards and make sure our union is doing ALL of OUR work! As people lets all reach out to others less fortunate then us & help out! Why not? Do it because Its the right thing to do. We have our 29th General Convention coming up in September, OUR INTERNATIONAL is a direct result of all the brothers who fought for all we have for over 100 years . They were givers , they knew all about change, I am forever grateful for every brother who served our union proud before us, THANK YOU! The rest of the United States I.U.E.C. locals have their contract due in July, 2007. I was locked out by EMANY on March 17th, 2005. Why not assist & educate these members who will be facing this challenge in 2007? Lets not forget the unconditional financial support we received during our lockout. Well I said what was on my mind, thanks for reading and letting me vent. I will always remain an extremely involved, educated , concerned and Proud member of Local 1 I.U.E.C. . In closing I would like to commend brothers Fred Mccourt & Mike Halpin not only for their educated posts , but for making me extremely proud to call them both my brothers. Respectfully Submitted Brother Brian Link
