I guess the over 700 guys that didn't show up to vote, attended the gay parade instead. Hope you got your money's worth. Maybe even found a few new friends. All these guys should be fined $1000 each. These guys will be the biggest complainers about the terms of the contract.

Well just got back from schindler long island office where i was employed at the start of this LOCK OUT. Five minutes into our RARAR speach i was told that i was being transfered intothe manhattan office as of today. I have been with schindler 17 years, they locked me out, but being a CAPTAIN through this lock out, and being voicestrous through this on my beliefs, and representing LOCAL#1 like a member should right?  I was shocked to see quit a few brothers actually laughing and shaking guys hands that were SCABS THROUGH THIS...I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES...UN BELIEVABLE....I just dont know what to say....but those were the same guys who have been missing for the last few months, how do they do it? In ending i would like to say i would not have done anything different then i did these last 3 months, if this is the way it is gonna be then so be it....To LINK, BUSE, GINTY,MAZZA,BLUME, COLIN, I just want to say what a pleasure it was to be on your team through this you guys are true brothers and true to LOCAL#1....If you guys ever need anything in life I will ALWAYS  be there for you and/or your families....WORK SAFE and ill see you soon...............................................TOMKAT-OUT!!!

A lot of people go back to work with a lot of baggage from this lockout.  We are professionals, we know how to build, modernize, repair and service these units the company makes all the money from.  To them it is just another dollar headed to a shareholder.  But when we drive around the city and the outlying areas we take pride in telling our family and friends that we worked in that building and the next and the next.  Follow the contract, do not do "favors" for your boss, but do your job.  He is your boss, not your friend.  Take pride in what you do and in being a part of this brother(sister)hood.  Not only our local but the international.  Let's be prepared next time, we know what can happen now.  The international started warning the rest of the membership before we even went out.  Work safe and respect each other.

It pleases me that all the locked out members are returning to work based upon the outcome of our vote.

I am ecstatic about the overwhelming support that went to Gary Haynes and his family. While the vote may have come close to a 50/50 split the support for Gary was 100% and for that I am a proud member of the IUEC tonight.

Banding together for a brother in need is what it is all about! While Gary lay still in his hospital bed it is up to us to support him and his family both monetarily and emotionally. All I can ask is that you continue to send your letters to GHaynesLocal1@aol.com . We have 50 as of tonight ready for printing to send to the family. I look forward to the next 50 to be able to print and forward.

Please understand that our thoughts and prayers are extremely comforting as the family lives with this tragic situation! Our support is their support, trust me on this!

Thanks for your time,

Bill

 Hello my Brothers, and Sisters,

I guess it's time to go back to work. I'd just like to share an opinion with our younger Mechanics. If someone gets hurt on one of our units that we maintain, the Company that maintains it will surly "HANG THE LAST MECHANIC THAT WORKED ON IT." You must treat every system that you work on, as you would treat a newly acquired unit that has been maintain by a "NON-UNION" shop. Look for it to be over fused, make sure the safety circuits are not jumped. They may be shaped in so they'll be hard to find. Remember that the same people who beg "US" to jump circuitry "JUST TILL WE CAN GET TO IT" are the very people who worked on our units. I guess the fool from the real estate board no longer believes that security guards can do as good a job, as we( the highly skilled technicians, with  national certification) can. They may try to rush you, as I'm sure they are FAR behind, but nothing comes before safety. It's been a while since I've said this-

             WORK  SAFE !

I spoke to Gary's fiance today and she told me Gary is breathing on his own and that he looks great. He is still not responding to much yet but he is fighting the fight. I like to thank Teddy Meadus for running the collection box for Gary's family. He did quite well. I like to thank the membership for taking care of one of our own. Please keep Gary in your prayers and thoughts. Thanks, Brother McCourt

Just wanted to mention what Local 1 family is ALL about. Their was a collection box set up"for injured brother Gary Haynes" at Local 1 Contract Vote Today. I introduced myself to the brother manning the box "I thought he looked familiar" , It turned out out it was John Meadus brother. For those of you who have not been active , John Meadus passed away while on active picket duty. John MAY YOU REST IN PEACE!!!!!We are family , we will always be family. To any members who decided not too vote today?  Besides obligations that were beyond your control, you should be embarassed and ashamed that you DIDNT vote!!! Once again you part of the problem , not the solution! During this lockout I did everything to help our Local to help assist our leaders to be active . WHen I go back to work on June 27th 2005, I will be educated, informed ,extremely well trained and always proud. I will ALWAYS work safe and always show professonalism to my customers and my fellow brothers and sisters " and also to the company I work for" . I will always stand up for our union, our elected officers. To all of you who were involved and active during this LOCKOUT, THANK YOU. Respectfully submitted Brother Brian Link AKA the cannonball KING of the SOUTH SHORE Once again Thnak you Local 1 officers for thinking enough of me for asking me to lead, not follow. When we go back ALWAYS WORK SAFE

THANK YOU TO THE NEGOTIATION TEAM, i KNOW YOU HAVE FOUGHT LONG AND HARD FOR ALL OF US.

GOD BLESS BROTHER GARY HAYNES, WE WISH HIM A FULL & SPEEDY RECOVERY.

WHATEVER THE OUTCOME OF THIS CONTRACT VOTE IS, IT WILL BE SOMETHING THAT WE WILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH, LIVE BY AND MAKE THE BEST OF.

IF IT PASSES WE CAN NOT LET IT DIVIDE US BY CONTINUING  TO ARGUE OUR POINTS OF DISAGREEMENT. THE BEAUTY OF IT IS THAT THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME, AND I HOPE THAT WE HAVE LEARNED NOT TO BE CAUGHT WITH OUR PANTS DOWN.

IF ITS VOTED DOWN MAKE SURE YOU FILL OUT THE QUESTIONNAIRE THAT WILL BE SENT OUT AND RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY, THEN WE MUST SHOW A STRONGER FIGHT AND MAYBE MORE OF THE WORKNG WORKING WILL BE THERE KNOWING WHAT IS AT STAKE.

WHATEVER THE OUTCOME LET'S STAND BEHIND OUR LEADERS AND SUPPORT THEM, SHOW EVERYBODY HOW STRONG OF A UNION WE ARE.

HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED THIS BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND.

Words can't express how proud I am over the last 3 months plus how extremely grateful I am to be an American! Words can't express how grateful I am to have a VOICE in my occupation! Words can't express how grateful I am to be surrounded by some of the best people I have ever been associated with. Words can't express how overhelmed I am with PRIDE over all the commitment and fight I have observed and felt since lockout, from my brothers and sisters and Our elected officials. I have learned many things in my life, but I always know that If you want to "make a difference" please choose to part of the solution , not the problem. Regardless of vote, I can only pray and hope that WE at Local 1 will always remain UNITED, STRONG and not divided. Vote for your future , not for instant gratification. I have from day 1 in 1982 , have always been educated, involved and proud to be a member of Local 1 IUEC. As an American one of OUR rights is the RIGHT to vote!!!! Yet when we have general elections, school budgets, and local elections, WHY DO WE SEE SUCH A SMALL percentage of registered voters VOTING??? You see brothers and sisters they made the WRONG choice to be part of the problem not the solution!!!! Be proud be involved and always be involved PLEASE AT LEAST VOTE respectfully submitted Brother BRian Link card #1347
