Mrs.faranda,I know its scary right now but don't  be worried.Somewhere out there is a mother wondering if Kemo is going to help her child.Bills? Bills shmills.call them all ,I bet you qualify for a 3 month deferment on all your credit cards and car payments.I did. This fight has been going on for many years. Its important to always fight. You see when things are good people forget and they let things slip right by.A new walmart popping up,20 illegals standing on a corner waiting for day work, little stores closing down. All these things get ignored when people have money in there pockets. We can buy paper towels ,a lawn mower and lipstick all under one roof, but what about the little guy. What about every label that says made in Honduras? The fight is every day, everyday, everyday, good times bad times. When I was little my father used to grab the back of my shirt and read the label, while you were grasping for air trying to pull the shirt back so you can breath, and in your choking voice you'd say Mom bought it.It was instilled in me when i was little .My mother never caught on .She loves her 99 cent stores. It may be time consuming and you may drive a little further to avoid walmart but that is fighting the fight.Years ago a pharmacist heard the jones had twins and he sent over a case of pampers,Do you think walmart or target would ever. That is the society that I want back , not the corporate one that is eating us alive.Hang in there,It will get better, but even when times are good ,the fight continues.I only have unemployment but if you need something,I will help.

Recon today finds schindler scabs on the escalators at the Marriott Times square (AGAIN!) Two escalators still out at the Weston hotel. I guess the experienced office personnel are not all that experienced after all(rusty scalpels). The cheif engineer looked very pissed off at otis.
Sadly, we lost 200 Park Ave to nouveau (local #3), 88 units. Then went I got home, the latest otis propaganda letter states that we have lost 16 buildings and almost 300 units, not to mention how much money we have lost. Don't they think we know how much they have cost us? Do they think that throwing it in our face is going to make us kinder, gentler, employees who will go quietly into the night? Or maybe, they just don't think. Because they sure as hell don't get it. They will never know how it feels to belong to something as great as a labor union, a brotherhood, a family. They will backstab each other for one more comission, one more customer, one more dollar. Then move on to the next corporate slop trough, while we remain, always here, always strong, always a family, a union. We will not go quietly into the night. Stay strong brothers and sisters.

This message is for Mike Bruce.  Mike, I just wanted to tell you that I think your offer to help your fellow brothers and sisters was a wonderful and generous offer.  When my husband, Bill (who you have worked with when you worked at Schindler), read me your message, it brought tears to my eyes.  Bill and I are blessed that I have a job and I have been working more hours since the lock out began.  Bill is currently enjoying playing "Mr. Mom" with our 2 and a 1/2 year old and our 6 month old.  He's doing some side work, too, with friends.  We're okay, so I am not writing to request your help.  I am writing to commend you for your generous offer.  God bless you and our brothers and sisters and their families!

Dear Brothers & Sisters:
All of us, working and not, have some struggles right now. This piece of history from the days of our founding fathers made me laugh:
SCAB: A worthless man or woman. [frequent from ca. 1570 F.__Cf. dialectal scabby: dirty, mean, worthless, and Yorkshire- scab-Andrew, a worthless fellow]
from A Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue, London 1798
I guess some 4-letter words never die.
See you on the picket line!
Nancy

It's almost midnight and I'm awake because I'm worried about bills.  Were not kids we don't have parents to help us ,our own kids are struggling to make a living.  We are taking care of elderly parents.  I know everyone has their own story.  It's been hard on all of us.  I know and appreciate the power of the Union, I am sickened by the outsourcing of American jobs.  I am sickened by the use of unskilled and frequently illeagal emmigrant labor.  These people are being exploited and they don't even know it.  But I'm also scared and tired of the uncertainty.  I hope and I pray that tomorrow will bring results.  I'm tired of seeing my husband sad and worried.  I want so much to  see him return to what he does best and what has supported our family for 30 years. I hope tomorrow all will show reason.

I hope brother Haynes is improving as this is being posted.  My husband has lost more then one friend to senseless accidents when he was with Local Three.  This is why we need a union.  To protect all who work hard for this city and it surrounding area

Good Luck to the negociating committee.  Pat faranda

There was an article of interest in the business section of my local paper today.  It said that ITT Industries Inc. of White Plains reached into the executive offices of Otis Elevator Co. to hire George E. Minich as its new senior vice president and chief financial officer.  Minnich, who has served as vice president and chief financial officer for Otis since November 2001, will join ITT July 1.  As the top financial executive at Otis, Minnich was responsible for the books of a $9 billion division of United Technologies in Farmington, Conn.  He held a number of other jobs with United Technologies before taking the Otis job.  Chief financial officer?  Did we just see the first rat abandon ship?  Is he flying the coop before he can be the scapegoat for the success of Local One?  Oh, and Mike Mac...thanks for being such a good shill for Emany (didn't Green use to call them Enema?).  .  Fraternally yours, Al Krause

I have been reading this site along side my husband everyday.  Let me first start by saying how proud I am of him and all of the local one brothers and sisters.  There were many times, after I read comments on this site that I have wanted to write in, giving my thoughts, concerns, and comments, but I never did.  Today is different, because I need to say something to Liz Nielson.  Liz, we have never met, wouldn't know eachother if we passed on the street, but I have read all of your posts and I have to say, YOU GO GIRL~ You, unkowingly, have inspired me more than you know. With each post you have sent, you have shown these EMANY bastards that they cannot break you or any of these fine members.  I have been a stay at home mom for the past 11 years and understand what you miss.  But you symbolize what a real women is - a single, working mother, but hands on at the same time.  You do what most of us could never do - the work of both parents. You should be commended for it all.

Good luck and God Bless!

Just feeling thankful. As a single mom of 3 ,I have always had to work. Many of you know the story of Mr.X . He sends child support weekly but somehow this abominable snowman keeps intercepting it.Anyway I have always been jealous of stay at home moms,And many can be very mean. They hog school tickets and there is none left by the time you get home from work. They design graduation slide shows with only there children in it . They stare at you at school functions like its a turf war, instead of offering any help.Regardless I have to thank Emany.I have been home since march 16th as the rest of you.I have driven my kids to school each morning,I have physically elbowed the school moms out of my way.My house is sparkling, and no one is calling me to say they cant find sneakers ,yet somehow over the phone I actually find them.If I bathe my dogs one more time ,I think there fur will fall off but I have to say ,besides being broke,I got my wish........to be  a stay home mom even if just for a little while. Now Otis may be reading this  and of course they are thinking Don't worry ms.Nielsen,When you get back we can make sure you get your wish by harassing you everyday. My answer to that is.. Don't even go there unless you can spell 1 800 lawyer. But just for the record.........thanks
