card number Local One Clerk Comments: To The Locked Out Members of Local One I.U.E.C.
I completely understand how difficult things are for you and your family. If there are any members of Local One IUEC who are locked out and have children on the autistic spectrum who receive A.B.A. (Applied Behavior Analysis) and your child's services are not covered through the Benefit Plan, I am more than willing to provide services for your child at the Union Hall, gratis.
I am New York State certified in special Ed and Early Childhood and have trained extensively in A.B.A.. Please call me at the Union Hall if I can be of any assistance to you. Thank you.

card number 1740 Comments: {It is EMANY’s hope that Local 1 negotiators will come to the next session prepared to offer realistic proposals to address the issues that continue to cost Local 1 members money. Negotiating in good faith means a great deal more than just showing up at the bargaining table. It means a real desire to work together to compromise on a contract that still provides excellent wages and benefits for Local 1 workers, but is also fair to the companies and the customers.}
Yes, EMANY local 1 Brothers & Sisters are well aware that this LOCKOUT initiated by EMANY has cost us money. And we hope that both parties can come to a reasonable wage and benefit increase, such that both the Company and the Union members can do the job and each reap and sow, whether it be for company stockholders, or that we can provide a living for our families. We see the bills our customers are charged for most things we have sold -as service representatives, repair teams, or mod/constructors. Each party gives and takes, and hopefully by the end of our day all is good. But how is my doing service work at 2A.M. in the morning, or on any shift you now want, going to be fair to me or my family. How about your proposal for escalator maintenance at night, I see no benefit there. It's a 2 man job, during the day, and each team must be fully awake to really get into that job. Do you know how many accidents will probably happen at night, when the mind and body are saying sleep, and there would be no one around if something were to happen. Let's stop beating around the bush about what is fair to the companies and the customers and get down to a real proposal.

Honorable State Senator Saland:
card number 33 Comments: Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We will post the status of our locked-out members Health Care by tomorrow night so our families fully understand where we stand as an organization. Your officers still have a few minor issues to iron out with the Benefit Plans. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
In Solidarity,
Anthony J. Carudo Secretary-Treasurer
card number 47175 Comments: In reading the EMANY update today, it seems that they have decided that the Local 1 members are not being informed about the true cost of the company initiated lockout, so they are taking steps to ensure that all of you are aware of how they really have your best interests at heart- just turn against your leadership and return to the fold (although the Otis people look as if they may have to find an alternate way back). It is unbelievable that the very product that the companies sell- your skills- are not worth as much to them now as they were five weeks ago. Stand together and stay strong- you are all showing your value as these days drag on- your customers know what they are buying with their dollars! Good luck- I believe that the stand that is made now will have to be duplicated in 22 months. Jim Miller Local 11 Cincinnati, OH.
card number 77205 Comments: Local #2 is behind you. Unfortunatly... we all know that this is something everybody has to look forward to in the year 2007. My whole family has been in the bussiness for years and I personnaly have been in the bussiness for 34 years. I just want to say.... that we're all very unhappy with Schinder for what they are doing to IUEC local #1 and all it's members. My boss, the rat, now believes that he is a elevator man.

card number 1196 Comments: Can someone find out the real story regarding health benefits? When I called National Health Benefits I was told they are up at the end of April. When I asked about the 2 additional months allowed for unemployment or layoffs, they told me it doesn't apply because this is a strike! I told them it was not a strike and they told me to contact my local. I see there are several posting on this, so I think it needs to be addressed.
card number 2325 Comments: Brothers and sisters, Check the fine print of your mortgage contracts. Some banks do have strike and lockout benefits.Chase bank is affiliated with union plus and in some cases depending on when you got your mortgage, you may be entitled to this benefit. The benefit is available to members after th 90th day of lockout. The following 3 months they cover half your principal and interest. If the lockout continues after the 3rd month of elegibility they will cover the entire payment of taxes and principal for up to 3 more months. This benefit is for union members only, the heartbeat of America. I would like to let Emany know Chase holds my mortgage, and I will recieve this benefit just in time for summer. The telephone number to the union plus mortgage program is 1800 848 6466. God bless the union.
card number 2315 Comments: This message is from Anne Marie Cooper (Billy's wife). Just letting you guys know that his mom passed away last night.

card number 1347 Comments: Otis made a decision today to take your vans away? I have been locked out since March 17th. On March 18th (approx 2a.m. I saw 2 men jump in my company van and take off) . We were told by our Local office they would be taking their vans . It was disturbing for many members children (seeing their dads Van stolen). We need to stick together and fight the fight. We need to stay informed . We need to stay involved. For people who were suprized that their vans were taken away? EMANY locked US out they walked away from US they took food off our tables. Emany has shown us they want to hurt us as much as they can!! We are ALL in this together. All for one . One for all.I would also like to let Mrs. Redmond know how much I enjoy reading her passionate posts. I worked with Denis Redman over 20 years ago when I was working for Armor Elevator. Please stay involved . Please remain strong!!! Its 6:15P.m. .........What have you done for YOUR UNION TODAY? The price of not getting involved......YOUR TRADE, YOUR LIVELYHOOD the price of being involved .......... YOUR PRIDE YOUR TRADE PRICELESS.......Stay involved morning noon or night we will prevail . Respectfully Submitted Brother BRian Link AKA Captain America

card number 1098 Comments: What is the current rate for company vehicle storage per day at your house? I need to know so I can start billing the company.
card number 820 Comments: I woke up to find that Otis towed my truck last night. Then I talked to another mechanic and found out that they took alot of trucks last night. Seems kind of odd that they took all the trucks right after they lost another arbitration. Looks like the're trying to tell us something. I get the message, and the message is that they don't give a F__K about us! The're trying to break us! STAY STRONG and remember, the only way we can win this is TOGETHER!
card number 250 Comments: Greetings Everyone,
I just finished emailing a lengthly letter to the Honorable Sheldon Silver about passing the licensing bill for elevator mechanics.
This LOCKOUT is a wake up call As each day passes, I am more aware of the division between the haves and the have nots. It is degrading to be at the mercy of anyone, especially when you are skilled and dedicated and just want to do an honest days work for an honest days pay. I am aware that if you have your health you have everything, but reality is people need to survive and pay bills, take their kids to the doctor, pay for their education and do something pleasurable every now and then, to live.
EMANY, just five letters that stand for a group of men who get up everyday and look in the mirror like we do. I wonder who these men are and whether they ever stop and think about the thousands of people they are hurting because they are more concerned about their shareholders and their bonuses.
I fantasize a lot now. Like why couldn't we all chip in and create a new elevator company ourselves? Why wait for the fat cats to hire ya back after ripping out your pockets. The biggest fantasy is that everyone gets fair and equitable treatment regardless of race, gender, religion or CLASS AFFILIATION. Did corporate America forget about 911? Didn't they learn anything?
I will keep writing and keep informing the public, especially since the newspapers are anti-union and most people have no clue about the lockout.
LOCAL #1 MEN AND WOMEN keep up the fight-keep up the faith!

card number 1831 Comments: UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! I got up at 5:00 a.m. to do some laundry and realized that my husbands white Otis van had been stolen out of our driveway.
I became ill! I immediately ran upstairs to check on my baby's. Someone had come up to my house (my private property and stolen the van) what else was this thief capable of. Did someone try to come into my home as well.
Thank God, my baby's were both sound asleep. I proceeded to wake my husband. We checked the house and called the police.
While we waited for the police my husband decided to make a phone call to find out if OTIS had been the culprit.
...and yes they were. Sneaky little cockroaches sneaking around after the sun goes down. DISGUSTING!!!!!
