card number 1613 Comments: The results for the vote on the dues increase is as follows: 114 - YES 303 - NO The vote for the constitutional amendment was tabled. I will get into that in more detail over the weekend, as well as the the three votes that are scheduled to take place at next month's regular meeting.
card number 16 Comments: I would like to remind the membership that the Locaal One Pipe and Drum Band will be having their annual fundraising raffle on Saturday December 8 2007. Tickets will be available at all union meetings starting September thru november, on a first come first served basis. This event is always a sell out. We would like to keep this raffle in house, where all tickets would be sold to local one members and family, as this would insure that the winner would be one of us.there are only three hundred tickets sold at 100 beans each, for a grand prize of 10,000 beans. 15 prizes in all. So we would ask the membership for their support so we do not have to go outside this local. The raffle party is always a great night out and each ticket entitles two people entrance to the raffle drawing which includes open bar and buffet. Good Luck to all.

card number 8504 Comments: Will union cards be checked at this secret vote unlike the defense fund vote? What happened to the money from the sale of the Whitestone property? If we're in such dire straits financially why was another organizer added to the payroll?? How much is the monitor actually costing?? Is the monitor done at the end of this contract or here indefinitely? How much for the sexual harassment? Wasn't it someone's job to make sure we didn't wind up in this position? I could go on and on. I'll admit we haven't had a dues increase in a few years but we still pay one of the highest rates. Yes it's our local and we have to take care of things ourselves but to throw more money on top of that without demanding more financial accountability is insane.I can hardly wait till the International decides in March they need another part of our annuity to fund something else.We all need to start going to these meetings and getting informed and involved. And where can i volunteer to count the votes??
card number 1899 Comments: Just to get an idea of how the members feel about this upcoming dues vote, everyone who is going to vote "YES" should sit on the left side of the auditorium as you enter, and "NO" voters should sit to the right as you enter. This will give some clue as to how the count should come out. Also, since we are paying for monitors, maybe they should count the votes. Danbo
card number 1752 Comments: I agree with Louis P. those measures would reduce spending and should be done. It is my opinion that the Perth Amboy property should be sold off and the monies be put into the bank. I also feel that there is no need to increase our dues with a permanent increase. We should have an assessment for $150.00 per quarter for as many quarters as needed to increase capitol in the gen fund. During this assessment the collection of the defense fund should be suspended till the gen fund has enough cash in it to keep things rolling along. Remember it is your union, it needs to be funded so open the wallets, pay the bills and don't cry about it. Later Chris Marren
card number 1682 Comments: Along with Louie P., if the dues increase doesn't get VOTED through,I believe he has posted a few good ideas on ways to generate a positive cash flow for OUR union. As for the permit carriers paying more to finance this union, remember, we were all permit carriers at one time,or did some of us forget where we started! Also our union should not be paying for PERSONAL legal matters of litigation for our members before the courts..All such $$$ should be paid by the parties engaged in such matters..Maybe Louie and Danbo can collect the Secret ballots and give us the final count.Stay well and work safe..
card number 295 Comments: it and remember all who were lost...NEVER FORGET
card number 295 Comments: Once again its 9-11, its 6 years later and this is to remind every one to NEVER FORGET!!! I was talking to a guy on my job today who was working in the South Tower who told me his story of that day, me and my helper got chills listening. Just remember, this wasn't a hurricane, a flood, or just an accident, this was an act of war on our soil in our backyard. We all know someone who was there and this day shouldn't go by like its any other day. Take a minute, think about
card number 1634 Comments: If the union dues increase doesn't go through at the next union meeting, there are other ways to save money and generate income: 1) The local one organizer who was appointed after the June election should be let go until we have enough money in our treasury to support him. This would save roughly $125,000 per year. 2) We should sell our property in Perth Amboy, NJ and bring everyone to the Long Island City school. It may be inconvenient to some, but we had one school location for years and it never seemed to be a problem. This building and land are most likely worth at least $500,000. Perhaps these options should be utilitzed before a dues increase is put on the membership.
card number 14 Comments: Six years later and you are still Local One's HERO!!!!! Chuck you are sorely missed around here and we will Never Forget you!!!! You would have been very proud of your family at the Local One picnic this year especially your son who put on a great show for the families at the picnic. Take care for now, your friend, Freddie. Please remember all of our troops who are still at war because of this cowardly attack. May GOD bless them, PLEASE.
card number 1899 Comments: Maybe my math skills have gotten a little "fuzzy". Twice my hourly rate of pay plus International per capita tax equals $315.80. Of course like over sixty percent of this local, I get service rate. If you calculate for construction rate it still only comes to $370.88, not $415.00. Of course the word "minimum" is in the Constitution and Bylaws paragraph,
