card number 1347 Comments: Dear Brothers and sisters, Tomorrow is Thursday February 16th. Like every third Thursday of the month we have a REGULARLY scheduled union meeting . Their will be a vote , If you actually give a sh.. about your future, show up and stop complaining and be part of the process. I have read the posts and refuse to make this a political posting site, please be educated If you decide to come to the vote, please be educated and make your vote the best one for the future of Local 1 . Don't sit back like many people in LIFE, and complain ( but never get involved). For all the members who I have spoken with in the field lately, who seem to always find the energy to find fault in just about everything. If you are looking for someone to blame? Please be honest with yourself and ask what have I done lately to make Local 1 IUEC a better place? We have many extremely talented members, why not let our officers know whats important to us as members of Local 1??? If anyone has any ideas to improve our union please come up to the microphone and speak up. I have so much respect for any brother or sister who speaks up at a union meeting ( the only stupid ? or concern of anyone is the question that never gets asked. How many of us has been at a meeting when a member goes up to the microphone with a valid statement, question or concern and you say I was wondering about that same issue. We should be thankful and grateful for these members. To some of the educated regulars like J.C. Reardon and others like Bill Lindsay and many others . I respect your courage as a brother and a man, I have been on the mike many times over the years and always felt when I said what I had to say the officers on the stage appreciated any input ( good or bad) . Too many chiefs and not enough Indians?? To all the actual involved and interested brothers, I will see you at the meeting. It is what it is, I will continue to be part of the solution, not the problem . I remain educated , involved and concerned. In solidarity Brother Brian Link I AM EXTREMELY PROUD TO CARRY A LOCAL 1 IUEC UNION CARD
card number 129 Comments: Brothers and Sisters, I joined this union as a probationary helper on April 28, 1970. So I guess you can call me old school. I met Mark Brand in the early 90's. We mixed like oil and water. That all ended when I told Mark F.U. and his answer was No, F.U.! We both laughed our butts off and have been friends ever since. When I was in troubled times Mark and Kathy let my wife and I move in for three months. Not many people would do that for another person. Now that Mark has had his second operation for a brain tumor and times are rough they both need our help. Kathy is a little thing and she takes Mark in his wheel chair for Chemo in NYC. The bills are piling up and the strain is overwhelming for both of them.[Mark and Kathy] Many of you know what it was like during the lock out, well Mark has been out since then. Please send any donation to

card number 7839 Comments: RAY HAINES one of the best people we could have as trustee .TO all my Friends i have worked with at IBEW THIS MAN RAY IS ONE TO GIVE SHOT .RAY GIVES MORE THAN ONE MAN CAN .I DON'T KNOW HOW HE KEEPS GOING
card number 80 Comments: Well a big shout out to Ray Haines, I worked with his Dad and, Holy crap, i'm working with Ray too! Any who, he works his butt off for the guys over at Schindler, all by himself, some 400 odd {don't read anything into the odd, its a figure of speech} folks, and they keep him plenty busy. And He feels He has more to give for the Local and I am in awe of that, so best of luck Ray.
card number 575 Comments: Hello my brothers and sisters… I would like to echo the words of tommy and wish brother Yaeger the best of luck in his upcoming election to the board of trustees.. I’ve known Charlie since he first became a Shop Steward back in the early 90’s and throughout The years his dedication to this local and his brothers here at Otis hasn’t changed a bit and in fact, He has proven to me time an time again; personally, what it means to be a brother.. During the walkout he called every man personally whenever there was information to be passed along, pounded the sidewalks along side with us and encouraged those he came in contact with to get involved and support the cause. Charlie not only talk the talk but he walked the talk. And as the lockout ended stayed involved in our everyday affairs and never once fluctuated in any opinion, or alligance, regardless of the issue that anyone of us needed help in. If you were right he would walk side by side with you right into the fire, but if you were wrong he would be the first to explain the pros and cons of any course of action a brother would want to take and even then he always made a brother feel that he would be there for you regardless of the consequences… it’s easy to tear down but it takes character to uplift and work to reconcile any given issue between two brothers.. and that is precisely what he does. Some may not like him because of his tenacity, others like me, are glad he’s been there for us when we needed someone to watch our back…There is a movie where a man asked another about this one particular guy, the question was…”If you were going into battle would you want him with you”… even though the guy in question had some tough personal issues ..the man responded hell yeahh!! with no hesitation… I wish Charlie god speed in this election I know that in the position of trustee as he did as a shop steward, he would do just a good a job..
Sincerely V.colon

card number Local 1 IUEC card #1347 Comments: Dear brothers and sisters of all I.U.E.C .locals, Tuesday night ( January 31st), President George W. Bush will lay out his 2006 agenda in his State of the Union speech, and working families will be listening closely. Time and again we have seen the president dress up ANTI-WORKER proposals with friendly sounding titles- but when congressional allies adopt them , the results are disastrous for working families. We must all need to be educated on all the issues that will affect our lives. We all need to be more involved in our jobs, our families and our communities! If you have children who are old enough to watch the State of the Union Address, please educate them also and have them sit watch and learn! PLEASE be involved in your families future. Maybe we can learn from OUR children, after all most adolescents are more open minded then adults. Most of all brothers and sisters make a choice to make a positive difference ! For more info please visit peoplepower@aflcio.org or www.aflcio.org . Please stop doing the same things over and over again , and EXPECT different results . Continue to work safe and look after one another. Set a good example for your co-workers and your children . Show them that an education is priceless, don't sit IDLY by and do nothing. I will continue to be involved , educated, and will always reach out to others and help out. Please be responsible for what you do in your own shoes!!! Stay safe and work smart In Solidarity Brother Brian Link card #1347
