Brothers and Sisters,GPS is the same thing that a criminal would get, only they call that an ankle bracelet. My vote is NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our competition may be local 3 but Emany is eating up company after company.Soon the only competition will be each other. This contract will only hurt us if voted yes! Think twice before its to late!

Relax,so I happen to be a person who can make lemonade from lemons.I am sure the man who sold horses  wasn't happy when the first car arrived but life went on and I'm sure nobody said gee.I'd like to trade my john Deer in for my old faithful Donkey.Things have a way of working out. You'll start at 9 A.M. and they will still call you in at 7 A.M.so no one is inconvenienced while you do maintenance,I have no fear of technology  and the ever change of progress but the kicker for me is the 2250 and the fact that it is 2 contracts. This is a tough one ,on one hand we all  know the story of the long shoremen who don't exist anymore and on the other, maybe some more talks are inevitable.

I have no doubt that our leaders fought long and hard doing the best they could and I do appreciate all they have done.

However I despise the idea that we are voting for two different contracts with one vote. The majority of the union is with the independents and have had the luxury of working, while the minority is with ENAMY and have been struggling and fighting for the past three months. I'm sure these Brothers & Sisters would like to get back to work, but I'll bet they vote NO and stand behind what they have been fighting for. Meanwhile the ones that have been working will say that this contracts not so bad and it doesn't effect them. BUT SOONER  RATHER THAN LATER IT WILL. SO IN ESSENCE WE HAVE BEEN DIVIDED. WHAT WE GIVE UP WE WILL NEVER GET BACK.

NOW WE ( the working working) CAN STAND UNITED AS ONE AND VOTE WITH THESE BROTHERS AND SISTERS THAT HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THE FIGHT, SHOW THEM THE SUPPORT THEY DESERVE EVEN IF IT MEANS WE WILL ALL BE ON THE STREET, BUT INSTEAD OF LOCKED OUT WE WILL STRIKE, BECAUSE WE ARE BEING PROVOKED!!!

DON'T LET ENAMY BUY YOUR VOTE WITH THE $2250 ( $1300 after taxes ) AND SCREW THE BROTHERS & SISTERS THAT HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THE FIGHT.

NO-     G.P.S.

NO-     SHIFT WORK

NO-     CONCESSION ON OUR HOISTING

ALL FOR ONE & ONE FOR ALL

Respectfully submitted

John B.

Brothers and Sisters,

After a fitful nights rest the one thing that bothers me more and more as I think about it is, "Why the signing bonus?"

Ever drink coffee? Coffee is an acquired taste. When I first started drinking it I used a lot of sugar to make it more palatable. Kinda like a "signing bonus" for my taste buds. you don't drink coffee?

Ever wonder how they give medicine to a tiger? They inject the medicine into a piece of meat and throw it into the cage, then they throw another piece in. The tiger not wanting to lose any of the meat quickly devours the first piece and then goes for the second.

My point is " BE WARY OF MISDIRECTION"

Regards,

Andy

O.K. after 4 cups of coffee and finally seeing the contract,I have to say it doesn't look that bad.Thankyou Freddie for pointing out pages.Come on guys, its not like we were on strike and lost .  We were locked out  for one reason and that reason was to hurt us and make us cave in.We didn't,our negotiating team stayed the course and got alot removed.Gps was a given ,you knew that,Otis likes its gadgets ,yes It can be an invasion of privacy but during working hours they own us.I just want to say to the white collar that read this, you already work until 10 p.m. without being compensated .You already eat lunch over  your keyboards like animals and I'm sure when you have a moment you email a friend or a business because your home life has been taken away. How would you like it if every time you sent an email your computer went Ding Ding ding alert ,someone is using the computer for private use.well  I couldn't care less about gps but if you knew Otis, When they hate you, every piece of technology is launched against you.Moving on,if the buildings want staggered start times then so be it,it is them we aim to please.I can not comment on hoisting, and I shouldn't comment on construction but you will make your hours now and have more in your annuity and thats a plus.I never understood that hour anyway.I always said to my brother, unless your sitting with 3 blonde's during that hour I just don't get why you would give up that annuity hour to sit on the long island expressway. Now I will receive tons of hate mail because some  members believe free speech to be of only there opinion.Ray probably has gray hair over this situation and he can never please everyone. As long as he listened and did the best he could then he has done his job.Remember ,these guys have labor law degrees,I'm sure they rebutted at every angle.Don't know if I'm reading correctly but I like the 85 percent mechanic thing.I think its a safer way to introduce new mechanics .I don't see it as the company saving a dime but rather understanding the needs of newbies.Anyway MY only regret is not being compensated for my forced time out but I think we are all winners.7 was a ridiculous number ,anyone who took it serious was silly. It was just a starting point. And I have to ad with some hesitation, but some of you yelling the loudest ,well I never saw you out there at the picket lines........I know i know,I feel the  hate mail already, send away,I wont be here to read it,got some sun tanning to do.

I have not received the new contract yet and will not comment on it until I have read it. We were the first to receive G.P.S on our vehicles and tried to fight it but it never goes away. I feel that its to the companies like a playboy magazine is to a little kid . They get told not to look at it at times it but most probably will. So Brothers and Sisters please watch your butts they will try to get us in other ways. Next they will want it insert the microchip in our heads so we can act like their robots.

Brothers & Sisters,

Just because a "letter " was in our last few contracts., doesn't mean  it has to be in this one. Just as Emany can change wording around, omit paragraphs, and insert new work criteria.

We also have the right to CHANGE the past wording that was in the contracts that was a grey area or possibly hurtful to our members. Isn't that what Ratify means? To make acceptable .

With this contract we need to keep one thing in mind: our quality of life.

Every contract should IMPROVE our working standards and QUALITY OF LIFE.

This contract, and the word quality, do not belong in the same sentence.

From what I have heard at the Thursday's meeting, I must VOTE No! No! No!

This contract is not in the BEST INTEREST of the union or it's members.

We appreciate all the hard work of the negotiating team.

Unfortunately guys... It looks like alot more work needs to be done!

Remember the chants at the rallies?

Read this contract. Does something seem amiss?

We are not getting one thing we were asking for.

Think long and hard brothers. Read all areas of this contract. You know in this industry we need to protect all departments .

Our concessions seem big, our benefits are practically non-existent!

There was a brother at Thursday's meeting( I will leave his name out) who expressed his utter disgust for this contract.   I agree 100% with him, as do many of the brothers I have spoken to.

LET YOUR VOTE BE YOUR VOICE!

                               Thank you,

                                    KEVIN W. FITZGERALD

I should be receiving my copy of the contract today. I have heard bits and pieces about it but I don't think it would be fair to comment before I read it for myself first hand. I do know one thing for sure, and that is everybody seems to be very divided about many of the issues. As a Local 1 member fortunate enough to be working, I think our locked out brothers and sisters did such an amazing job fighting the fight up to this point. It would hurt me to know that I was partly responsible for keeping them  out of work any longer, by voting no That's why I propose the voting should be left up to the 1500 members not working. I trust they will make the right decision for all of us. Maybe at Thursdays contract meeting we can take this issue to a vote either by a show of hands or a simple voting ticket handed out at the door.

I do not have the contract yet,But Andy Favata was my teacher, and so in reading his post ,He states 'What we give away ,we give away forever."Let these words play over and over in your heads. If we have to live with these changes,We the locked out out ones should be compensated for 10,000 dollars each as in pain and suffering and all assessed should be reimbursed. We would have worked through negotiations but some vindictive genius decided to lock us out like we were rabid dogs.I am still sizzling over the propaganda that said emany was losing jobs due to our refusal to negotiate. It was with the threat  emany received from  the real estate board ,that emany decided to move fast.Well like I said I don't have a contract yet,but the people that are posting are straight up guys I trust. As for me, if I have to succumb to the changes ,Emany should compensate  for the pain and suffering they caused my family and 2250 is not even close......

My apology's for the misunderstanding for an earlier post I  wrote I was just trying to explain the meaning of the word" NO" as explained in the Websters dictionary. Maybe I should have said  no /adj/ as in no gps - no shift in start times - no change in hoisting. At every union meeting and rally I thought we made it very clear we are willing to fight to maintain our working conditions.  We are Local One  how about one contract for all members. Do as Ray asked  read the contract make notes and come to the Thursday meeting. P.S. have a happy fathers day.

Brothers and Sisters, please turn to pages 87 thru 89 in your last contract and you will see that there has been shift work in mod without a "day shift" since 1996. Then please turn to page 90 and see the companies have had a option to work a 7 or a 8 hour construction work day since 2000. To all the brothers who want to talk about what their fathers were on strike for(my Dad was one of Them) they did not have to deal with Local 3 doing 80% of the mod work in New York City and they also did not have to deal with non-union scum putting up 30 story buildings. We better wake up as a membership before we are over run by our competition. Please then turn to page 79 of the last contract and see what was given up in 1996 in regards to the use of the outside hoist. Last but not least, wages. There is not another trade out there that is going to get 6's across the board. If you think that raise sucks, holy ****!!! There is not one paid officer of this Local that would not work under these work rules which most of them have already been put in place for 9 years.

To Ray, I was in the room with you for most of the negotiations and I know you did the very best you can do for your members. You had an obligation to the members to bring back a contract and that's what you did.

I am starting to feel like Link, so this is the last comment. Please read your last agreement and then read your new agreement and then make a educated decision.

Semper Fi,

Frederick McCourt

From what I read there are no hoisting give backs. We will still do our own hoisting. There is 1 staging area that they can use the outside car for, that is the passenger car run by a Local 1 Brother. That work will be done most of the time on OT because we will never get the car before that. Sounds good to me.  Anytime after that we will be hoist everything up the hatch the way we always have. The Mod shift has always been in the contract. If you have by any chance gotten a contract in the pass to read look it up. We need to make some change in Mod to get the work form Local 3. The same goes for the service start time. I remember being told that if they want that Friday hour they will pay and what did we get for it $50. So $2250 for something that was already in the contract sounds good to me. The way I add up the numbers it comes out to be more then 2%. Check your adding. Our fathers were out for that Friday and many other things giving away in the past. I don't remember anyone crying about that when we walked away from all that for nothing. GPS was also in our contracts so I think Ray and his team did a good job protecting us with that. You have every right to say and vote they way you want. I for one will VOTE YES.
