We have been locked out for over 3 months , lets stand strong , lets remember what we are fighting for !!! A fair contract with NO givebacks ! A fair contract that will not only support our families , but also allow US to see them "during daylight hours". Ray has said from DAY 1 , WE WILL STAY TOGETHER AND GROW AS A FAMILY. I refuse to talk out of turn until we all have the new contract in our hands. I will as always remain educated ,informed , proud and extremely trained . I will always remain a proud member of Local 1, and if and when we go back to work I will always demonstrate professionalism , take pride in my SKILLED trade and always continue to do the right thing. card number 960 Comments: Simple question? What are the changes in the "new" contract that the membership should need to know? I think we have the right to know before our meeting on thursday. I'm sure the fine print has been addressed. What are the changes???? I would like to know. Anybody else???
card number 14 Comments: Went to see Gary today and this kid just keeps on fighting. I was with his sister and she said he looks great but he is still in serious condition. Keep up the prayers. Thanks, Brother McCourt
card number 1899 Comments: Recon today brought a few scabs to light. One otis scab at 70 Pine St. , Two schindler scabs at Home Depot on 59th St. Photos to follow. The sneaky bastards did finish the Seaport job (kone) and the Weston job (otis) over the weekend. We can't be everywhere, everyday, but until we return to work, they need to know who they are keeping out of work, keeping food off the table, the bills paid. I hope to see all the brothers on Thursday. Always viligant Danbo

Please read the contract front to back BEFORE you make a decision one way or another. Please after you READ the contract and have any Questions? Ask your shop steward, or Business Agent. These men are OUR leaders , they will have the answers. I would also like to ask to vote for OUR future! Not for instant gratification .If you can not Delay gratification.... the seeds of great ness are not within you. We need to stay strong , WORDS can' t do justice for how hard and long our leaders worked and negotiated on this contract. They gave up many weekends without their family, missed little league games, school concerts among many other things. This contract is All about your FAMILY, PLEASE MAKE AN EDUCATED DECISION. I would also like to take this time to thank everyone who has been active during this lockout, whether you are working or not . Also we have a UNION MEETING this Thursday June 16th , same place, same channel. card number 996 Comments: Reading Fred McCourts post today and hearing what is good news in the long process to follow it prompted me to post a note I wrote several days ago.
Now that are negotiating team has done a fine job and is ready to deliver us a contract to discuss and vote on let's get back to a major situation at hand, that is brother Gary Haynes! As said in my last post Gary and his family are fighting a daily 24 hour battle that will continue for some time to come. We can only hope and pray that he will be able to recover from this horrific injury. Please understand that while the family requests that no one visit Gary just yet it is for obvious reasons. He is in Intensive Care (only family allowed) and has a brain injury that must be protected from the risk of infection. On the other hand the family and Gary need all the support we can muster. With this in mind I have set up an email: GHaynesLocal1@aol.com for everyone to forward their thoughts and prayers on a personal level rather than an addition to contract talk. I will print each and every note and place it in a book for the family to read and update it as often as needed. Trust me each and every comment will mean the world to the family that is sitting by his side 24/7.
Respectfully submitted, Bill Dutra

card number 575 Comments: Good morning dear brothers and sisters….
We were greatly relieved to hear that our negotiating team has reached a tentative agreement with these folks… Yet somehow it’s a bittersweet victory of some sorts. First of all at this time we can only speculate what it is that we have being that we’ve yet to have the contract in our hands… When I look back in retrospect and ;even though I’m glad a possible end is in sight, I can’t help but feel anger and frustration at the actions of EMANY that precipitated unrecoverable losses in both parts. They have lost jobs they will never get back and besides the money we lost respect for the people that we work for.. This is gonna put a lot strain in the already fragile relationships we have with some of the individuals in the companies that we deal with on a daily basis , and it’s gonna take a long period of healing, forgiveness and reconciliation before things become normal again and although the irrational human side of me would like nothing better than to punish these fools, I realize that if we hurt them; like it or not , we hurt ourselves. The prophet Isaiah angry with the iniquities of the sinful, asked God in frustration…”why do you allow the wicked to prosper ”..Well for the record God didn’t answer… And so it seems like they are gonna get away with impunity with what they did to us. To pursue a more destructive resolution to this will only serve to undermine the principles that our union stands for…This lockout was ill conceived and showed in their part a wanton disregard for our talent, our families and their customers and quite honestly all we could do when we go back is give them a fair amount of work for the misery they pay us and of course…NEVER EVER FORGET NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY AT THEIR SAFETY MEETINGS, THAT WE MEAN NOTHING TO THEM THAT THE ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR IS THEIR ONE AND ONLY CONSIDERATION. I realize that this subject has been discussed, explained, debated, scrutinized and theorized before, so rehashing it further serves no other purpose but to inflame the already altered state of our demeanor towards them… It has been said that to err is human but to forgive is divine…I humbly submit that my faith forces me to deal with forgiveness, because if I don’t forgive then I WON”T BE FORGIVEN..and boy do I need forgiveness. So my precious brothers and sisters…I have learned much from you all. I think we are all surprised with each other’s eloquence. All you guys write from the heart ..some with more passion than others…So if anything has come out of all this for me is at the very least a renew respect for my broithers and sisters and the pleasure and privileged to have stood side by side and communicated with such a fine group of men and women as you guys.. Union Pride to some people is only a slogan but to some is a way of life, something to cherish, something to guard and last but not least something to stand for…not just with words but with deeds as some many of yous did.. In retrospect I remember one instance that made me so proud ..it was when local #10 at the very beginning of this lockout and under a rainstorm ..showed up at our rally…We owed a debt of gratitude and solidarity to all the locals that so generously contributed and are still contributing to our struggle.. Finally to our negotiating team our heart felt gratitude for their sacrifices and good judgment in bringing us what I hope is a fair contract…Ultimately we will all exercise our right once we’re inside that booth and vote our conscience…. You all have a great day.. Fraternally The Colon Family

card number 103 Comments: Brothers and sisters we should all take our hats off to the negotiating team of ray, Lenny ,Freddy, bobby , ed and Gary for bringing us a contract that may or may not end this 13 week lockout. but you can be sure of one thing. these guys worked day in and day out to bring back a contract to this membership, some of us may or may not like somethings in it,and on the 26th you have a choose to vote your way. but I can say one think for sure, no one worked harder than these guys to get us back to work. so again I for one would like to say.
.thanks
