Greetings All,

  As a child of the sixties I didn't appreciate the writings of President John F. Kennedy, but now I do.

    "The problem of power is how to achieve its responsible use rather than its irresponsible and indulgent use-of how to get men of power to live for the public rather than off the public." (Robert F. Kennedy, October 26, 1963). 

  The highest proof of virtue is to possess boundless power without abusing it.  Power consists in one's capacity to link his will with the purpose of others, to lead by reason and a gift of cooperation.  These certainly seem like lofty ideals, but they were part of the foundation of our AMERICA and just maybe if EMANY reads enough emails something will resonate deep within their souls.   Ok, laugh, I'm an idealist and dellusions still abound. 

Elevator Constructors are really a strong brotherhood-just look at the voices on this website-it's astounding!  None of were born with a silver spoon in our mouths.  WE WILL SURVIVE just like our forefathers before us!

I would like to extend my gratitude to the locals across the nation for their financial and emotional support.

I hope its not EMANY because they don't care about you or your family.

Dear brothers…

I would like to thank the brothers from around the country for their contributions… I’m personally embarrassed that the locals from around the country can grasp the urgency of our plight and willingly choose to support our local , Yet in our own backyard we still have SOME of the brothers either refusing or hedging about sending in the assessment that was overwhelmingly voted in. It boils down to sacrificing a little bit over $62 a week, an amount quite easily spent taking a couple of their kids and the wife to the movies… I was overwhelmed at the thursday night meeting when besides hearing about all the contributions coming in, it was revealed to us that the local from the San Francisco pledged $100,000…Obviously they see our need and realize that in essence this may very well be their fate 2 years from now, but what was really beautiful to hear was that besides our present need , they were in part motivated by the fact that almost 100 years ago when they were on strike.. We sent them $1000 dollars.. How’s that for gratitude?

I urge the brothers out there ;that are working, to send in the assessment,

The issues at hand have the potential to change this industry as we know it forever, and whatever happens to us happens to you… I read with interest and sometimes amusement all the comments and anecdotes written by everyone and throughout all the comments I to sense, deep anger, frustration and resentment with the companies due to their apathy and lack of common sense.. A wise philosopher Once said…” Conscience is a coward, because those faults that it doesn’t have strength enough to prevent.. it seldom had justice enough to accuse” … I guess they don’t see what they have done to us? They don’t see themselves for who they really are. They don’t see that besides jobs and men they’ve lost something far more valuable ..OUR RESPECT and to some extent THE RESPECT of (some) of the CUSTOMERS they’ve lied to. I personally have lost a lot of respect for some of these folks that could; if they chose to, do the right thing, I guess they totally forgotten where they came from.. How utterly sad that they chose to make a buck rather than to stand tall with us.. I tell you this ..we will remember this and those actions will haunt them forever, Actions that truly attests as to the content of their character..funny my wife has a saying it goes like this…”there are three kinds of people in the world…1,,those who make things happen. 2.. Those who watch things happen. 3.. and those who wonder what happened.” I will however add one more and this quote came out of a movie. 4..”the needs of the many far outweights the needs of the few”..

What ever happened to service excellence? What about All the safety rhetoric about caring for us and our families?.. yet they hatched this plan to lock us out, hurting not only us but our families as well..I have no other conclusion but to see them in a different light, a revealing light that portrays these corporate puppets being manipulated by individuals so far out of touch with reality that they have more time to count the millions they make cashing in their stock options than investing said time in realizing that the most valuable asset they posses  isn’t their accounts, but rather the men that service those account.. I AM OTIS ELEVATOR..NOT THEM, DAMN IT!!!….SUPERVISORS, OFFICE MANAGERS, VICE PRESIDENTS..Etc

COME AND GO, yet we the field men ..REMAIN…For over forty years they have tried to shove shift work; amongst other things, down our throat and for over forty years we have stood firm…Our spirit is, as it was in 1972, We would sacrifice and risk serious financial woes rather than to give into shift work and to loose our hoisting rights… What part of the word NO they don’t understand the “N’ or the “O”. As Brother Hernandez said we have trimmed and reworked  our offers pretty much as far we can, give and take a few negotiable issues.. pretty much the ball is in their court.  In view of the looming lost of jobs and valuable men and the impending fees and penalties they face for not completing the jobs that are pending , It boggles the mind as to why they refuse to negotiate..

Oh well I guess I’ve vented enough…..

Stay strong my brothers ANS SISTERS ..I will leave you with this little message God gave his people as they faced peril…”IF I AM FOR YOU THEN WHO CAN BE AGAINST YOU”

Hello brothers and sisters , its 20 minutes before Sunday here in NY. Just wanted to let OUR LEADERS KNOW we are behind them 100 %. Please remember as we go out , ITS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to bring a DIGITAL CAMERA on you at all times!!!The INTERNATIONAL needs proof to take proper steps to remove these scabs from ever holding a card anywhere in NORTH AMERICA ( INCLUDING CANADA). My FAITH has never been stronger , when you are doing what you know down deep is right, fair and serves a purpose , YOU FEEL GREAT!!! You will get everything you want in life , if you just help others get what they want and need. Couldnt be more true in our solidarity and support thru out this great country we live in THE UNITED States.We will prevail , Local 1 is here to stay . May Ray and the rest of OUR ELECTED OFFICERS continue to TOW THE LINE. We are extremely proud of their unconditional support for the working families of LOCAL 1 IUEC. Brothers and Sisters, I am sitting here reading all the posts from our Brothers, Sisters, and wives and you can't imagine how proud I am to be one of the Leaders of Local One. I knew how strong we were as a family but I never knew how strong we were through out the International. We will NEVER forget our friends and we will NEVER forget our enemies. Please stay strong and say a couple of prayers if you are into that type of stuff. It can't hurt. Try to enjoy your Sunday and the team will get back to work on Monday and hopefully bring "our family" back a CONTRACT!!! STAY STRONG,

I want to thank all the generous Locals from all over our wonderful country for their moral and monetary support. To all of the locked out brothers and sisters, never forget! We survived the worst terrorist attack this country has ever had. I did not see my husband for 3 days as he worked tirelessly round the clock to keep the company on its feet. How quickly THEY forget. Yes, it has been very hard not having an income for 9 weeks! But in the end, we have prevailed. We have our dignity, our self respect and our pride. Please keep the faith and remember this" The wrongdoer is more unfortunate than the man wronged"
