Stay as strong as your history shows you to be. Be sure to make your members aware of your 1960 strike against Otis and Westinghouse that lasted 5-months. Again in 1969 the companies tested your determination for 4-months. In 1972 it was 7-months. Your strikes in 1981 and 1998 were short in comparison.

I believe the companies are using Local 1 to send  a strong message to the rest of the IUEC. They will not succeed in NYC nor will they succeed in 2007 with the rest of the IUEC.

The entire membership of the IUEC is strong and fully supportive of your efforts.

Does anybody know how Cobra is going to work for the month of June??  I called the plan to ask about making a payment for the month of June and spoke with Jayne and she told me to wait because they do not know what the arrangement was going to be and that we should get a letter about what to do regarding the June lock-out rate. I do not want to have a laspe in my medical coverage and would like to know if anybody has heard any different then what I was told.

Anybody...somebody give me a heads up on this!

Many Thanks!

Hey Brothers & Sisters,

Has anybody read the UTC 2004 Report?  I found it interesting!

"Earnings per share and net income both grew 18 percent in 2004"

"Otis employees 59,872 people minus the 1200 local 1 members"

"Revenues in 2004 were 37.4 Billion"

"Otis Business Unit Revenues 9 Billion"

"Otis operating profit 1.5 Billion"

"Total percent in Revenues in the United States 41%"

"Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM) 58%"

"We're benefiting from favorable economies and business conditions worldwide, but we are also outpacing competitors in many of our markets.  We see the evidence in Otis' 14 percent growth in unit elevator orders in 2004.

We see it in Carrier's 15 percent growth and Pratt & Whitney Canada's 42 percent growth in engines shipped in 2004.  These are powerful numbers."

Best Quote yet on this report from George David, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer:

"On Behalf of shareholders, special thanks to every employee for amazing creativity and contributions. They're the reasons for the company we have today."

So I am trying to understand....is this the way they thank the employee's who have contributed to there success?

I'm not feeling the love...or the $$$

As a matter of fact I think we are all feeling the "kick in the butt" for our dedicated hard work!!

Good luck to all the Brothers & Sisters.  We've all seen better times.

Where are the "Good Times"?

Brothers and sisters:

I have been in the MCE factory (CA) for the last few days. I spoke with some of the Tech support people here and found it interesting that the calls coming in from NY in recent weeks have been for stuff that "REAL" mechanics fix on their own. Speaking with the "SCABS" has left them wondering about the quality of work being performed by the "shrinking 3". Just thought you'd like to know.

Stay Strong!!!

Andy

I would like to encourage our negotiating team to continue steadfast upholding the mandate at hand to negotiate a fair contract with these people keeping in mind the road that was laid out by those before us…I believe the very quality of life we have come to enjoy; though barely adequate due to the rise in the cost of living and medical care, is at stake in this negotiations…These folks (EMANY) have lost touch with reality and have forgotten that it is what we do on a daily basis that brings home the bacon and has afforded them the huge profits they made during the last quarters…. They lock us out for no good reason, and apparently out of sheer greed.. Their demands are not for productivity sakes but for cost cutting measures that will ultimately line up their pockets,(not ours)…Its ironic that tonite I went to church and the very scriptures that we studied touched upon what these rich corporations are doing to the working man…The study was on the book of James in the new testament and the the first seven verses in chapter 5 fits EMANY to a tee….

Here it goes

James chapter 5

1.  Look here, you rich men, now is the time to cry and groan with anguished grief because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you.

 2.  Your wealth is even now rotting away, and your fine clothes are becoming mere moth-eaten rags.

 3.  The value of your gold and silver is dropping fast, yet it will stand as evidence against you, and eat your flesh like fire. That is what you have stored up for yourselves, to receive on that coming day of judgment.

 4.  For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. Their cries have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts.

 5.  You have spent your years here on earth having fun, satisfying your every whim, and now your fat hearts are ready for the slaughter.

 6.  You have condemned and killed good men who had no power to defend themselves against you.

 7.  Now as for you, dear brothers who are waiting for the Lord's return, be patient, like a farmer who waits until the autumn for his precious harvest to ripen..

I think these verses speak for themselves…

the disdain with which they treats us is unwarranted

and their arrogance and lack respect for us in time is gonna be their undoing….

Keep up the good fight, come out and support your brothers at the picket lines…I realize that there are those amongst us in serious danger of losing our homes, but with unemployment checks around the corner, ( at least for the brothers in new York) having won the arbitration to be able withdraw from our annuity, the assessments from the brothers that are working and the contributions from the locals around the country.. We will weather this

and hopefully soon be back at work…..

Stay strong

Fraternally yours……..

Vinny

BROTHER TOM MOORE HAS THE RIGHT IDEA....IT'S THE MECHANICS AND APPRENTICES THAT THE BUILDING OWNERS AND MANAGERS DEAL WITH AND THAT IS THE REASON THEY STAY WITH THESE COMPANIES.   LETS KEEP THESE BUILDINGS LOCAL 1.

Dear Brothers & Sisters:

Where do we go from here? Next stop is to sell our mechanics to the different building owners and management companies.

Kaufman did it with the "The Lift Company". He got tried of dealing with the many different companies so he started his own elevator company just for his buildings. Heinz did it for awhile with VTM.

It's time to actively push this idea. We then can get our own members to open Repair shops to subs to the different individual owners who need to get extra work done.

We have to talk to Trump, Silverstein, Rudin, S.L. Green etc etc.

This will put our workers to work and break the backs of the major (EMANY) companies control on our workforce.

We can't keep doing the same things over and over again and expect different results. We have to be bold Brothers & Sisters.

We have the workers and the management companies and developers have the work. Let's cut out the middle the company.

Stay Strong, We are right in this fight.

What a great day! The bus ride to and from Albany proved to be well worth the time. I can't think of a trade that wasn't represented. Even Gov. Georgie came out to say his bit. It's nice to know that we are supported by a man with such integrity ( Even though he may have his own agenda )Thanks to Bob, Freddy and all the rest for a great day.

Stay strong, we will prevail!
