I was in the city doing some solo recon. First, I found that Otis has lost the Olive Garden at 2 Times Square to Nuveau (Local 3). I saw them changing a handrail.
Later in my travels, I ran into (and photographed) two scabs with Mike Battone working on an escalator at the Hilton on sixth ave. There was no sign of safety going on. One scab was holding the others legs while he went head first into the motor room (minus glasses, gloves, or lock out) and I guess Battone felt he could not even watch, because he walked away for that part of the "rusty scalpel operation".
Make sure everyone, that you check every peice of equipment that the scabs have touched, because who knows what has been jumped out in their haste and inexperience.
I talked to many building managers and engineers today and they were all fed up with the lack of service, I told them just call the hall, and they will put them in contact with a fully staffed, qualified, union trained shop. Lets hope.

HELLO BROTHERS AND SISTERS. ON THE PICKET LINE AT NEWARK AIRPORT, MY FRIEND TOM TOLD ME A STORY ABOUT A CONSTRUCTION JOB HE WAS ON , AND HE INTRODUCED HIMSELF TO ANOTHER CONSTRUCTION WORKER AND TOLD HIM HE WAS AN ELEVATOR CONSTRUCTOR. THE GUY LOOKED HIM IN THE EYE AND SAID, "ELEVATOR CONSTRUCTORS ARE THE FILLET MIGNON OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY". WE DESERVE A FAIR CONTRACT. THERE IS AN OLD IRISH SAYING, SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO GET UP ON THE ROOF NAKED JUST TO LET THE NEIGHBORS KNOW THAT YOU GOT BALLS. STAY STRONG

Flex Time? Isn't that something you are supposed to do before exercise? Evidently, I'll need to buy an English-to-EMANY dictionary to translate all of these foreign words.

I'm hearing stories that the BIG O is releasing new construction jobs that they already have the equiptment in storage for are being given to other companies to install for them. If anybody knows who these companies are we should be finding out if they are Local 1.  I would think this has to be hurting them now. HEY BIG O DO YOU THINK YOU MADE A MISTAKE LOCKING US OUT YET!!!!

I have only been in this union for 3 years (the last 22 in local 3) the union pride and strength is overwhelming. Coming from local 3 and being out for 17 weeks in 96, you can see the difference and feel that progress is being made here. In local 3 you stood in front of your shop with the other 2 guys, froze your ass off and watched all of management walk right buy and laugh in your face or see the look of pity on thiers. It`s good to know that our union reps stand behind us and they know we stand behind them. Alot of things are going to come out  of this, some good and some bad. the good is the big three will see that the only thing they got out of this is less contracts, the loss of some of thier talented workers and spending a sh#t load of money doing this. The bad is that this made alot of enemies out of friends. Its rough to see your brother or father or friend going to work bringing home a pay check and probably some extra cash doing a job you know is rightfully yours. But never the less we must fight the fight brothers and sisters

        STAY STONG

EMANY, we know that you read our postings. Seems like you do your best work on the INTERNET, but not, where it really counts at the table. Every time you let us know how much money we are losing, it just makes our resolve stronger, because , we know this is the only way you really wanted it. If certain guys were not doing there job on March 16th, there are steps to take to resolve that. But instead you brought people in before this ever began. You ,are the ones that brought this on yourselves. We could have been working, while you were negotiating. So when you send out bulls*** letting us know how much we are losing...like we don't already know, it just makes things worse. Stay off the INTERNET, stop wasting paper, and get your asses back at the table. Summer is creeping up, your scabs have never been in the field in the summer in NYC...no picnic.

Today I visited a building I used to service when I worked for koneheads (kone). The super told me he's been calling for service and naturally no one has been showing up to answer the call. He has been repairing the elevator as best he can himself, then he calls kone to tell them he fixed the problem AGAIN ,and I Quote,"some moron tells me i'm doing such a great job that we may have to send you a check for fixing it".Needless to say, the super finds no humor in it.

kone, you've out done yourselves.Even the people outside of Loca1 see you's for what you's are, " MORONS".

Hey guys and gals here is a bit of info for everyone to know about these police officer scabs out there. If they are sanctioned through there precient to moonlight they are allowed to do 30 hours a week. If there respective precients are aware of it. But if not or any problems with them or want to know if they are legit there is a number to call and here it is..1-800-PRIDE-PD....I AM SURE THEY WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW. That number is not published for a reason, get it? I was told that pictures are worth a million dollars in our case..They were very interested in what i had to say, and proof is better. So all i can say is travel with a camera or a video and lets see if they are sanctioned through the PBA....RUMOR HAS IT, DOUBT IT...STAY STRONG, STAY LOYAL TO OUR OFFICERS, AND GET OUT THERE AND FIGHT FOR WHATS OURS.  and most of all EMMANY AND JIMMY WALKER YOU BIT OFF MORE THAN YOU CAN CHEW-----THIS IS LOCAL #1, THIS IS A FAMILY, WE WILL NOT BREAK....

I want to thank the negotiating commitee for working hard on our behalf. Alot of the guys I've spoken to have wondered about the unemployment situation in NJ and would appreciate if we can get an update on some of the items we discussed. Has there already been an arbitration hearing? Are we waiting for the arbiters decision? When can we expect a final determination? Have we even got that that point yet...? God bless you and stay strong.

Hey emany companies WAKE-UP. Your negotiating team has failed. The lock-out strategy has not had the desired effect. Your companies for all intents and purposes are shut-down. Future projects are on hold or lost to the independents. Your companies are spending millions on no return activities. Your companies management personnel are fed-up and who would leave if something else comes along. Your customer base is shrinking. If your companies truly want a fair and equitable collective bargaining agreement, you must get rid of J. Walker and his gang of thugs. If on the other hand, your companies agree with the present course and strategy, so be it. HAVE A VERY LONG AND VERY HOT SUMMER!!!!!!
