While I read your website every morning, I can think of no better way to start my day. West Side Stadium Rally

Albany, New York

Buses will be leaving The Union Hall at 6:15 am.  The rally will be from 10:30 am until 11:30 am.  We will return to The Hall at approximately 3:00 pm.

Anyone wanting to attend please either e-mail me at the above address or call Margaret at the hall.  If your spouse would like to attend please let us know.  It's important that you let us know as soon as possible so that we may secure enough buses.   

Food and beverage will be provided.

Anyone wanting to drive themselves up will find us on the west side of the Capitol Building.  You may want to arrive early as parking is limited.

I'm from local 8, and it is a sad state of affairs when employers loose track of what's important. OUR real purpose in  life.

I love my career, but NOT more than walking in the door after being gone for 11 -12 hours

(can't forget to include the commute) and seeing my son smiling at me! And waiting for me to make his dinner, help with homework, chat about how his day was and run around to his activities. The idea to extending the start time would TAKE AWAY THE FEW HOURS IN THE EVENING WE GET TO SPEND WITH OUR KIDS, FAMILIES, OUR LIVLEYHOOD!

      Make no mistake brothers, EMANY is out to break down our brotherhood, and set themselves up for 2007. Evidently the the hundreds of millions of dollars made by the "shrinking 3" is not enough for them. They fail to realize that it is the members of Local 1 that ensure those millions keep coming.

      How many times have wwe heard this line from customers: " you mechanics are all terrific!! It's the rest of your company that sucks". I could only wonder what they are mumbling now.

AFTER PICKETING TODAY AT THE TIMES MYSELF AND A FEW OTHER BROTHERS TOOK A WALK.WHILE MIRANDERING  WE CAME IN CONTACT WITH A CHIEF ENGINEER.HE SAID TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY IN HIS BLG..ONLY 2 HYDROS AND 1 PASSANGER CAR DOWN.SO MUCH FOR ZERO CALL BACKS.SAID NO MAINTENANCE DONE SINCE THE LOCK OUT.WANTS LOCAL 1 BACK.TO SAY THE LEAST HE IS VERY PISSED AT OTIS..THE FUNNIEST THING OF IT ALL WAS THAT KONE WAS IN THE BLG TRYING TO STEAL THE ACCOUNT FROM OTIS..THEY DID A WALKTHRU..HE SHOWED US THE GUYS BUSINESS CARD ALONG WITH A TRANSEL AND TYSSEN CARD..

 more flexibility on start times is shift work!!! if start times range from 6am to 12 pm and we are told to take a one hour lunch then ending times range from 2pm to 9pm and not just on resident jobs maybe its time to ratify the contract that the independents agreed to since emany says local 1 is unreasonable yet the independents feel this is a reasonable contract

Dear Brothers and Sisters and Wives,

         Just to make it clear to all of our members EMANY has not pulled shift work off of the table. What they did was used some more smoke and mirrors, there proposal on the table today is for a service journeyman or apprentice to have a start time between the hours of 6:00am to 12:00pm what this means to our members is you would be working from 6:00am to 8:00pm for straight time money. This may not be shift work to EMANY but it is to Local 1 and its Members. This is not just a money issue it is a quality of life issue. As I said to our members before we are not dealing with honorable men.You can not believe what they write on there site. As for GPS and Hoisting Local 1 has made comprehensive proposals to insure the industry standards and protect our members. HEY EMANY WHY DONT YOU TRY TO NEGOATE AT THE TABLE NOT THE INTERNET. LOCAL 1 IS PREPARED TO MEET ANY TIME ANY WHERE.

I am not sure, yet I think you may have the right to do so and at that point what can the BIG THREE do? Hire permanent replacement workers?

Hello brothers and sisters just wanted to thank the brothers who have emailed me with Scab names and areas where they are from this information will be fowarded to our elected officers and I will be fowarding to our international thru the proper channels . As far as the west side stadium rally, I have been locked out for almost 8 weeks, I am planning on attending this rally. Brother Mike Halpin is offering a FREE BUS RIDE. I feel very strongly that wouldnt it be a statement if we could fill 8 or 10 buses ( with maybe a couple of our brothers and sisters who are working?). We will continue to fight the fight for all brothers and sisters working and not working . The Immigration Problem

Author and columnist Frosty Woolridge sounded the alert over illegal immigration in America. He estimated that there are currently over 20 million illegal immigrants in the U.S., with around half of them coming from Mexico. There is also a 7-billion dollar people-smuggling operation originating in Asia that is contributing to the problem, he said. Illegal immigrants have taken over many blue collar jobs and driven down the salary for such positions, he noted, adding that this scenario could be an effort by the "elites" who want both cheap labor and to bust up unions.

Beyond the economic damage, Woolridge asserted that resources such as water will become increasingly scarce in many locales, due to the burdens of overpopulation. Further, he suggested that the multicultural immigrant population in the U.S. is "infecting us with a Balkanization" of languages and nationalities. These groups show little interest in assimilating into American culture, and could eventually turn our nation into a "third world quagmire," he opined.

Woolridge proposed a 10-year moratorium on all immigration and said he favors an increased military presence on the borders, using video cameras and night vision scopes to curb illegal crossings. He calls for American citizens to form "an avalanche of protest," that could lead to immigration reforms. Click here for a specific list of his recommendations.
