how come this lock out is not advertised? I was conversing with a few people and they the public knew nothing about the lock out. Why dont we place an ad notifying the public what emany has  done to its valued employees. Why dont we let the public know that untrained scabs are now responsible for the elevators they are in. Let them know how we local one have been properly trained in elevators and escalators. Oh emany, how you have created a distasteful taste in our mouths, made bad blood between us, locked us out of our once valued job.I ask what business could do this in this day and age? and of course you scabs what back stabbers you are, screw up once and do you think emany will stand behind you? doubt it. It really is a nightmare ,and all of us are waiting to wake up...

Brothers and Sisters - we will be rallying at the New York Times Building at 44th Street between 7th & 8th Ave. Wednesday May 11th at 7am (Guest starring The Rat). The Times is a Union paper with a SCAB Elevator Pretender working inside, and it is time for fellow Unions to know this is NOT acceptable.

Note: Remember, for every scab we take a picture of, get a name, or trap in a building because they are to embarrassed to come out and for every building inconvenienced -We Do Make a Difference. These scabs are working 7 days a week at Your Job. Get involved, stay involved, We Will Win!

First, Happy Mother's Day.

Tuesday May 10th starting at 7am we will be rallying at the Marriott located at 45th and Broadway with The Rat (on Friday the Marriott checked in 50 Schindler scabs). We will be there Tuesday morning because it's the day the hotel will have the Tony Awards.

Note: We need to show EMANY we don't just back Ray & the Negotiating Committee; We stand shoulder to shoulder with them. To the Brothers and Sisters that show up most every day a BIG thanks, for those who don't, there's still time to get involved. We need a Big showing at All Rally’s

The scabs working today are emany's "Valued Employees".  Shouldn't they be asking themselves, "What happened to yesterdays "Valued Employees"?

This is an open letter to all EMANY supevisors, I know you read these posting.
After this lock out is over, some of us will not return, due to contracts being lost or members going to other companies or retiring.
With loss of customers and manpower, comes reduction in managment positions. Some of you will be thrown out like we were.
Why don't you take the opportunity to pre-empt this event by taking your talent and customer list to a company that has the manpower to do the job? Aren't you tired of lying to your customers, saying a "qualified mechanic' will be there right away, only to leave the elevator out of service for days/weeks?
I know that Tyssen has recently lost 3 supervisors and could use qualified office personel, especially ones with a customer base. Get your quality of life back and give your nerves a break, leave on your terms. You can see how little EMANY cares for it's "valued employees".
Or stay, take your chances, and when the international gets locked out, have fun in Iowa, Kansas, or where ever they send your tired ass, away from your families, and into a hostile environment.

To The Female Members of Local One, To The Wives and Mothers of Local One Members, and to the Male Members of Local One who are single parents acting as Moms too.....

Happy Mothers Day.  You are extraordinary!  You are the symbol and beyond what Moms really are.  You are telling your children and spouses that you support them during this lockout.  You are emulating the tower of strength.  I know, from listening to your spouses when they are on the telephone at work, or if they stop in at the Union Hall, how supportive you are.

It takes a strong woman (Moms) to continue to let your spouses and children know that everyone is working together to make this a better world.  A Union is not just a body of Members, rather a family made up of supporting spouses, children, and extended family members.

The Local One Moms are the epitome of the word "Mother" = the center of the family, the supporter, the thinker, the secure individual, the person  who says "it's ok, don't worry, we'll get through this"

Ladies, you are amazing!

Most respectfully,

Peggy Bender

Hello brothers and sisters. Friday night Locked out of work by Emany . Got my health , have a great bunch of brothers out here on Long Island from Schindler . When things get tough you really know what kind of brothers( friends) you have. I will remain positive , I will remain informed, I will continue to be a well trained ,educated Local 1 mechanic. I was thinking about over my 23 years with Local 1 , how many talented people I have had the oppurtunity to work with. I have never been one to keep knowledege from any of my brothers and sisters. If someone needed help I would always be more then glad to help. Whether I was home, fishing or even sleeping. Which when you work calls , weekends and holidays FOR THE CUSTOMER TO DO THE RIGHT THING. I just wanted to thank all my mechanics who taught me the right way. For this I am extremely grateful!!!!!! You will get everything in life you want , IF YOU JUST HELP A OTHERS GET WHAT THEY WANT! Being locked out in avery very frustrating situation . I love my trade I love my UNION and all its members. It amazes me HOW MUCH TALENT IS SITTING HOME NOT BEING PAID NOT BEING COMPENSATED> Your own children depending on their ages saying Dad  or mom doesnt Schindler like U??? They know how much PRIDE WE TAKE in our trade!!!WE WILL CONTINUE TO TOW THE LINE. WE WILL CONTINUE TO EDUCATE THE RIDING PUBLIC OF THE TRUE FACTS !!! THANK YOU.Most of all take the time this SUNDAY to enjoy Mothers day with your family!!!!After all this fight Is about Quality of life, not  giving in to CORPORATE GREED Respectfully submitted a proud brother who will continue morning, noon and night for WHAT WE DESERVE!!! AND WHY NOT? peace and god bless  signed Brother Brian Link aka Captain America ............A man comes home from work everyday. His hands are filled with paperwork He couldnt complete at work. His young son perplexed say . Dad why do you have to do all that work when you get home? He'd say, you know son I just dont have enough time to do it during the day. His young son says very calmly , you know dad I know what you should do? His dad says what? He says they SHOULD PUT YOU IN SLOWER GROUP. ............PLease live your life show your children and family whats Important , working families should never have to put their JOB 1st! Heads up Kone. While catching Otis scabs working at the Weston Hotel, again, we first found local 3 New York elevator surveying the job at E-Walk. Later, we found (and photographed) Kone scabs working on the same escalators. It would be better if the brothers at Kone would show up and let the scabs know they are being watched.

ALSO, the Otis scabs and super were not wearing safety glasses or gloves. I guess safety went out the same door as service excellence. Watch out for the "rusty scalpel".

After seening over the last 8 weeks the events that are unfolding at Local 1, knowing that in 2007 the rest of the industry would or could hing on these current events I had a vision I would like to share with you. My vision was simple but it was one of total solidarity. We are seeing History on future events in the Labor movement, being LOCKED OUT for I think the first time ever. Anyhow back to the vision that once EMANY comes to their senses and wants to reopen their doors due to loss of business, loss of Creditability, loss of valuble field personal, Our Local 1 Brothers and Sisters stood up and say you locked us out, it was a lock out before Now its a Strike and our issues now are 7+7+7+7+7 No GPS, No Hoisting changes, No Shift work changes(or whatever they may be) and the rest of the working Brothers and Sisters through out the rest of the Locals volintarily donated 250.00 of their salary monthly to the Lock out Fund and see it through. If EMANY wants to make HISTORY I say we give them a HISTORY to remember one that Showed how strong we are as an Industry and one that will be remembered long after we are gone.  I was brought up that if your gonna be a part of something volintarily or involintarily, make an impression! I know this is probably a dream more than a vision but hopefully my point is understood.

Stand Strong Local 1 once again your in the spot light and We are all behind you. Keep fighting the fight.

While walking through the Newport Mall in Jersey City today to pick up my glasses (which I paid for without insurance-thanks Swindler Elevator!) I was pleased to see 4 out of 8 escalators out of service on the main floor alone and no sign of any mechanics. The PATH station escalator has been out since 3/18. The customers must be furious. Hope the little companies are making those phone calls!
