JUST WANTED TO LET ALL THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS THAT THE HILTON GARDEN INN , VETERANS HIGHWAY, IN BOHEMIA NY (LONG ISLAND , NY), HAS ASKED 4 SCHINDLER SCABS TO LEAVE THE PREMISES AS OF 10 A.M. TODAY APRIL 14TH. THESE 4 SCABS HAVE BEEN STAYING THERE AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO COVER CALLS ON LONG ISLAND ............they are not doing to well I should add many units at many big Schindler Contracts are being LSD for days even weeks. THANK YOU HILTON . On another note wanted to thank Business Representative Kevin McGettigan from LOCAL 4 BOSTON for his support today at both rallies at 1211 6th Avenue (Schindler Office) and following with LocAL 1 TO THE ALL OUT non union PROTEST @ flintlock SITE 58TH STREET AND 5TH AVE . 50 plus men and afew wives from Local 4 came out!!!!!!!  THE MEN IN GREEN FROM LOCAL 4 CAME OUT TO SUPPORT US.......I had the priviledge of talking with Kevin and cant tell you how much LOCAL 4 supports US here at Local 1 . It made me feel extremely proud. To bring anyone up to date on flintlock they are completely non-union paying these un educated scabs 7$ per hour no benefits and working unsafe. I was apalled and amazed at the lack of netting (protection).I heard about this going on at 15 broad street NYC but was still a shock to see a outside hoist non-union and sending up these poor un educated scabs. We need to stop this now we need to get involved now! We need to be together now. WE will continue to educate the riding public that there safety is at risk WE will continue to educate OUR CUSTOMERS and building managers to bring back the highly trained mecahnics .We are Local 1 . WE ARE HERE TO STAY . We will continue to educate and inform the public 24/7 . And please lets not forget the hard work of Mike Halpin day in day out !!!Thanks to Mike we had the assistance of Local 79 Laborers with their bus and PA system. I am very proud of my union and I will always be proud and we will prevail God Bless. We will forgive but we may never forget . Be safe stay involved respectfully submitted brother Brian Link aka Captain America Go YAnkees...........to my brothers from BOSTON thank u and MAY GOD BLESS YOU & YOUR FAMILIES!!!!!!!

EMANY claims GPS would -Improve customer service, safety,& efficiency as well as create more jobs but their actions show otherwise.

Improve customer service-When a call comes in, it gets dispatched to the route mechanic, whether he`s next door or on the other side of his route at the other end of the State.  No matter who's closer to the call, the call gets dispatched to the route mechanic.  If he is tied up, it goes to his back-up.

Safety - Mechanics have to call in and out every day and respond to calls dispatched.  It is almost impossible to get a signal in a motor room, pit, or top of car in a shaft.  How is GPS going to help find out that there is a mechanic in trouble when GPS doesn't work in those areas??  So, obviously, it is not the mechanic's safety that they are worried about.  Maybe a sneaky super's ?

Efficiency - If the companies were worried about efficiency, each mechanic would have 40-60 units, not the 100+ that they have to carry now.

.... as well as create new jobs - if they wanted to create new jobs, they would not have you carry so many units.  They would hire vacation mechanic from the hall instead of letting the route go with no mechanic while that mechanic was on vacation.

No compromises on GPS can be made.  GPS has always proven to be a means to punish.  There is no legitimate reason to use it in this industry.

If I am so valuable to this corporation and they want me back at work so soon, why are they waiting a week to go back to the negotiating table?  Our union leadership is right there truly with my best interest at heart.  Thank you and please keep up the great work!

Brothers, Stay Strong!

Dear Local 1 IUEC,

Lungs4Nancy would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support to the Lungs4Nancy Fund.  The evening was an enormous success.  Without your help we would not have been able to attain our fundraising goal.  The outpouring of support that we received from our brothers & sisters has inspired us in so many ways. We would also like to send special thanks to the Pipes & Drums for taking time to make the night that much more memorable. Also, to all the shoppies that took out time out of there own personal lives to help our family.

Once again, we thank you. Stay Strong, we will prevail.

In 1972, I was a young permit helper with two small children.  We had just moved into the new house that we bought, we hadn't even unpacked all the boxes when we went out on strike.  To say that we struggled would be an understatement.  We survived, the union survived.  When we went back to work, this is no lie, other trades applauded as we walked back into the construction site.  We came back stronger, we came back united and we came back more determined to stay strong and united.  We went back to work with our heads held high.

To our young brothers and sisters, this fight may be harder on some of you than it is on someone my age.  There is so much more at stake than the working conditions for the next three years.  The contract that we sign today is the base contract that we negotiate three years from now.  That contract will be the base contract for the 2011 contract negotiations, and so on and so on.  If we cave today, who knows what they will be asking for, from you, when I'm long dead and gone.

STAY STRONG
Stephen

I ran into a security guard today that works for Bo Dietl & Associates at 55 Wall st. He asked me if something was going on with the Union and I informed him of the LOCK-OUT.He then went on to tell me that his field supervisor was asking all employees if they were interested in working as undercover bodyguards posing as elevator mechanics helpers. They would be paid $15.00 per hour instead of their usual $8.00 with a minimum 12 hours per shift and they could work as many shifts as they wanted to.He also said that if they could come up with a sidearm (gun) and work in the more dangerous parts of the city, they would be paid double the rate ($30.00) on the Q.T. I responded by telling him that beside the fact that our apprentices are paid substantially more in wages, that they also received an excellent benefit package that includes health insurance, dental and life insurance.I told him he should ask Mr. Bo "One Tough Cop" Dietl if he was offering the same. The guard just stared at me for a minute and then smiled and said he thought he smelled a RAT!!! How appropriate!!!

In case you are not familiar with the modern day Pinkerton Bo Dietl , He is a former NYPD "Hero" detective and wannabe movie star, wiseguy and entrepreneur. He is also a former Detectives Endowment Association union delegate. How sad he now exploits his employees , most of who live just above or below the poverty line for his own greed. All members should send him an email to let him know that he is a disgrace. Just go to... http://www.beaudietl.com/

and click on the contact link.

LET BO KNOW-SCABS GOTTA GO !!!!

I like to hear it from the horse's mouth. So, after the brothers came out of the share holders meeting, I talked with some of them. It seem the corporate drones were listening some. But when Mr. David said there are experienced office personel taking care of the elevators, The rebuttal should have been as follows:
Say you are going in for surgery. You would want the gunslinger who is out there every day, staying sharp and using the newest technology. Not some old farmhand, an analog man living in the digital world who has been sitting in on board meetings instead of honing his skills on the table. One slip of the scalpel, and somebody dies. This is an extreme analogy, but with "Safety First" being the Otis motto, who wants the rusty scalpel???
