I am a very frustrated wife of a local one employee. My husband has been in the industry for almost 20 years and with each year that passes I cannot believe the torment these companies put their employees through.

Look, I have been on the other side of a negotiating table. Before I moved to New York, I was a Human Resource Manager and we had union employees. When it came time for our contract to expire both sides brought in there representatives and we sat across from one another at a large table. The union present there contract that they would like to have on behalf of them and we presented ours. It took several days of each parties leaving the room for meetings and coming back with different wording to the contract. It was nights that didn't end sometimes until one or two in the morning but we did what it took and came to an agreement that everyone was happy with.

Now, all I see with these EMANY people is they have one objective in mind break the union. They have this so called idea that the industry must change for them to be competitive. DON'T THESE EMPLOYERS HOLD MOST OF THE MARKET SHARE NOW?

This is only an excuse. They have no reason to want to collective bargain in good faith. If you look at the meaning for COLLECTIVE BARGAINING IN GOOD FAITH it means for the parties to collectively sit together and bargain (talk back and forth) together until a mutual agreement is reached. EMANY hasn't done any of this they go to the table with the same outrageous terms and say take these and stick them where the sun don't shine or leave them. And we have no choice but to leave them, they are terrible. I would never have my husband work to provide for his family under these circumstances. I know times are tough but that's when the tough get going.

Keep up the good faith and guys (families also) go to these rallies. We have to show we are united in this fight.

I seem to recall a few months ago that Otis was trying to shove their "Service Excellence" program down our throat. Telling us to go the extra mile for the customer. It's pretty damn funny how they give the customers such Excellent Unskilled Scabs. I hope all the working companys go after Emany's customers like a pack of wild dogs.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS ITS time to step up the fight, I just read the lying B.S. that emany is telling the public that we are not negotiating in good faith.guys we need to get the message out to everybody that we  are not the ones who started this. we want nothing better than to go back to work and help out the people who need us most, the supers and the building owners all say the same thing when asked, its not the mechanics that we have the problems with, its managment. guys ive been out there for the last two weeks every day and all i see is the same guys day in and day out , i get phone calls all the time asking whats going on or did you here anything new. i dont care if you live in new york or new jersey, and you know who you are, get out there and show your support for your brothers and sisters your union familly.

Brothers and Sisters,
To all people working in the service dept's, please reach out to your customers both large and small accounts, and inform them of our current work situation. Chances are the smaller jobs with only one or two cars may be unaware of the lockout. After speaking with several Property Mgrs. and on site supers in the past few days most had no idea there was a work stoppage. The few that did know, wanted to know why we were on strike. Keep the public and your customers informed. Also, a big Thank You to all our Brothers and Sisters across the country for your words of support and encouragement ! ! !

To the Wives:  This LOCKOUT and not a strike (Dennis had to explain this distinction to me ad nauseum because I couldn't even comprehend how a company could just toss it's valued workers out the door) has made me think about how this city was made on the backs of union members like my husband, your husband, father, brother and/or sisters. When I read about the working conditions before unions came into existance and the history and fight to unionize, I feel such a deep respect for the labor movement and it's members.

This is a difficult time for many and I just want to say that maybe we can help each other out during this rough time.  Depending on how long this LOCKOUT lasts there will be some people in need.  I can offer some time tutoring english for free for anyone who needs it during this crisis.  By the way, I am a NYC Teacher without a contract for the last two years!

First I would like to thank our Union Officials for the Tremendous job they are doing, I thank you guys & my wife & children thank you.

I am fortunate to be one of the "WORKING WORKING" and I guess I feel some guilt in that. This is my first week back from vacation since this lockout happened and I have been to a couple of RALLIES and the Mass for our departed Brother John. I didn't know John, but I feel that he died FIGHTING THE FIGHT for all of us, and for that I needed to pay my respect.

I thought that I would see a lot more Brothers & Sisters out there in the TRENCHES FIGHTING THE FIGHT, I know it's hard for the working Guys & Gals.

BUT IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE LOCKED OUT BROTHERS & SISTERS AND YOU ARE HOME ON YOUR ASS WATCHING JERRY SPRINGER, SHAME ON YOU.

I would love to see these SCABS from Otis, Kone, & Swindler try to keep all the elevators they have under contract in the WHOLE COUNTRY!!!  If they win here in NEW YORK, then what's the rest of the Country in for in 2007.

LET'S SHOW THEM WHAT  AN INTERNATIONAL UNION IS ALL ABOUT!!!

ONCE AGAIN I WOULD LIKE TO THANK OUR UNION OFFICIALS AND THE BROTHERS & SISTERS IN THE TRENCHES FIGHTING THE FIGHT.  THEY ARE FIGHTING  IT FOR ALL OF US!!!

Brothers and Sisters,

Today while handing out fact sheets to the public I came across two Building managers who were willing to discuss with me our situation. They both had the same story of what Otis is telling them. Our committee walk out on a very good offer from EM ANY. I asked and what might that great offer be? They told me a 25 % increase over 3 years. I told them no way had they offered that and did they mention the unbelievable givebacks? Their answer was  a big NO! I then educated them on what has been going on and what Otis was doing and how they were conducting themselves. These men were not happy to hear what I told them. They were pretty pissed at Otis and rightly so. So it is very important that we continue to use our contacts to get the right information to our customers. Do not stop the communication with your building contacts because we need these people on our side. Thanks to all of you who are doing this already and for those of you who are not get off your ass and start doing the right thing.

WOW!

I can't believe the ENEMY update I received today.

I think they believe if they lie over and over, it will eventually be true?

They are trying the broken record routine.

I guess the words "INTEGRITY and ETHICS" do not exist in their world.

Do they really think the public is going to believe their B/S?

We , The Local One Elevator Union, have Earned the respect of the public. We have proven our skill and dedication to them and this trade over many years.

Eg.  The bombing at The World Trade Center,The Major Power outage of the whole city of Manhattan, and of course  Sept. 11, Etc...

Their "Demands" as they call them are TOTALLY UNREALISTIC!

I didn't think we were dealing with terrorists!

We are educated, highly skilled and passionate individuals with work ethics they will Never recognize!!

Our Integrity is beyond their realm of thought!!

Hey Scabs, I hope those bonuses are worth it!

I guess it's easy when your a scab: NO HEART, NO SOUL and NO SPINE!!

Thanks to all the brothers who came out today downtown. We  made a big impact on educating the public on their safety, and the buildings on the type  companies they are dealing with.

One reminder to those brothers and sisters who stayed home today.

If we could have almost 100 guys from Local #10 show up to fight for the cause, and some guys from Local #4, I think you should damn well make the trip to your local areas to do your part!!

We are family. These are our cities!! Nobody comes into our house and pushes us around!!

BE STRONG! STAY INFORMED! WE ARE ALL SHOP STEWARDS FOR EACH OTHER.

               FITZMAN,

         OVER AND OUT!
