Comments: Your local SCAB REPORTER here, while at the rally this morning at Otis, I had an opportunity to visits a few of my jobs downtown. Low and behold I found three SCABS working in the motor room of one of these jobs - 21 West Street. These guys were there for three hours with two shut downs and left with the same problem they started with stating the needed manuals to fix the problem.
The names of the SCABS are as follows:
MECHANIC - KEVIN YOUNG HELPER - MICHAEL WILLIAMS JUST TO LET YOU KNOW. RETIRED COP - WILLIAM J.
we know you where there!!!!!! Here is another lie the EMAMY Companies are reporting by stating the have qualified and trained personnel repairing these elevators.
Signed Your local SCAB REPORTER STAND STRONG AND GET OUT IN THE FIELD. I NEED AS MUCH ASSISTANCE AS I CAN GET.

Comments: Brothers and Sisters, It was great to see the great turnout today at Otis on 10th ave and 34th st. I would like to remind everybody tomorrow, TUESDAY, 6:00AM at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital 68th st. and 69th st between First and York ave. We need as much support as possible. To some, this may seem like a minor issue, but last wednesday night local 1's HOIST BEAM was removed. Tomorrows demonstration is to remind Otis and all other trades that this is the work of LOCAL 1!!! Respectfully, Billy Kolln (CHIEF) P.S. See you in the AM
Comments: I first met John Meadus at 10 Hanover. Working with him at Starrett City made me realize that he was truly a helluva guy, not just as a brother, but as a personal friend as well. He was always willing to give a helping hand and I knew I could count on him. I considered him a "gentle giant". My condolences to his wife and family. He will be sorely missed!
-Hang tough, guys! Your Local One brother Ray Diaz

Comments: Dear brothers and sisters. It has become a sad state of affairs in this country today how much of our personal freedoms are slowly slipping away, what we are fighting for todday goes beyond the work place, it goes right to the heart of our right to privacy,I would like to ask the people so concerned with my safety(LOL),since you are interested in tracking my every move, can you gurantee that that others such as the Govt., police, advertisers, and even my x wife, will not be watching my every move.If you do not trust me to perform the task you hired me to do in the first place, then how can I possibly trust you to gurantee my privacy. G.P.S. is a very dangerous weapon against all our personal freedom, not just in the work place,I urge all my brothers and sisters all over the country to fight this invasion of personal privacy, walk the line, write or call your elected officials. We must take a stand now,1984 is happening today....
Comments: HE WAS MORE THAN A BROTHER HE WAS MY FRIEND, Many people work together and at the end of the day go home with little regard for their co workers. For some of us it is a little different. John Meadus was more than just a Local 1 brother he was my friend. The crew at Rockefeller Center became a Family over the years and John Meadus was without a doubt the heart of our family. Thanks to John our wives became friends and we often got together to share many good times. The kids we called our helpers are now having kids of their own and some of us are even having grandchildren. Today we must say goodbye to a very dear friend so some of us will not be attending the OTIS Rally but you can bet your ass we`ll be back out there tommorrow fighting for more than just a job.
God Bless The Entire Meadus Family, Your brother John Mathisen
Comments: Today is monday 4am both my kids are sick and my wife gos back to work.I have the job of mister mom .IIIIIII WANT TO GET BACK TO WORK . NEED THE MONEY BUT BUT .I WOULD NEVER CROSS THE LINE LIKE SOME DID .DON'T FORGET ABOUT WHAT THEY DID TO THE FAMILIES OF THIS PROUD LOCAL
Comments: WOW! We in Local 8 San Francisco are with you. I volunteered to come help walk the lines with you but was told I had to stay behind while two others were sent to lend support. Both were chosen cause they speak the language and have blood kin in your local. (I think I may file a discrimination charge) I figure what is happening to Local 1 is what we will see in 2007. Stay united, you are an inspiration to us all. John Ruth BA Local 8
Comments: An open letter to all IUEC brothers outside the NYC area,
I would first like to say that it means a great deal to us, the locked out brothers of local 1, to be receiving such enthusiastic support from around the country. It is definitely encouraging to know that you all realize that it is ALL of us here fighting this fight, and that we ALL stand to lose a great deal if EMANY has its way. But if you all think a little harder, there is much more to this story that you must all consider.
It is becoming increasingly evident that the groundwork for the "big 3" making these ludicrous demands was not laid here in Manhattan, but is part of an national, industry-wide plan. Only the calendar dictated that local 1 would be the first to face this ATTACK on our working conditions and quality of life. If the national agreement was negotiated shortly before that of Local 1, then it would now be someone else on the street and my NYC brothers and I supporting them from afar. I sincerely believe it was just fate to put us on the "frontline" of this battle at this time.
What I would like to all to consider is this: Don't be naive and think you are on the outside looking elsewhere at this fight. YOUR supervisors, office managers, salespeople, etc. are all in this too! THEY have the exact same stake in this outcome as any other paper-pusher that works for any of these 3 companies, whether they are presently pretending to be mechanics here in our area or not. In essence, I personally believe what this fight is primarily about is dignity and we are on the verge of having that dignity removed from our profession. If you work in NYC, Chicago, Dallas or ANY other venue anywhere, your companies are looking to suck that dignity from you as well.
So, when you are at work tomorrow and you get that inevitable 4 PM call from your super that starts with "Can you do me a favor ...", please think about this - and hang up on him!
Thank you all again for your support! Stand Firm
Comments: I would like to thank all the "working" brothers and sisters that were at the rally today. They gave up a couple of hours today on a very special holiday. The Brothers and Sisters came as far as Long Island, Pomona, and North Jersey. EMANY has awaken a sleeping GIANT!!! I must thank EMANY for that. The Brothers and Sisters that would do anything for the companies now have seen the real world of corporate GREED!!! Stay STRONG, Frederick McCourt
Comments: In light of the fact that Otis elevator made billions last year, I think that the locked out brothers and sisters of Otis should, in mass, sell all of their UTC stock. Also, I hope all who play on a company sports team really see how the company thinks, and promptly quit the team. Danbo
Comments: We can all get the flu anytime.... Give um a taste of whats to come in 2007 if they pull the same crap... Just say the word....we'll all get the flu.......... UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE BEG.......... I'M PROUD TO BE UNION WITH ALL OF YOU FIGHTIN THE FIGHT. local

Comments: John Soutar what the hell were you thinking, just remember you might have to work with us again and we will not forget your choice to be a SCAB!I hope swindler takes care of you after this is over cause your ex-brothers sure as hell won't!What an Embaressment to you and your family.Hey maybe the out of town jerk-*** scabs have a job for you somewhere far from New York, because your definitely not wanted here!!!!!!!
Comments: My Father has been an elevator mechanic for 20 years, yet his brothers and sisters that go out to work everyday and work so hard to satisfy the public to make sure there in safe hands. Instead they have unskilled and unprofessional scab workers doing there jobs. SCHINDLER,OTIS AND KONE should be ashamed of themselves for not giving them a decent contract that they work so hard for and well deserve. I strongely support my father and his brothers and sisters from local one at this time of lock out and hope that the ENEMY companies come to there senses and give them what they deserve. Ive never been so proud of my father and his local one brothers and sisters STAY STRONG AND STAY UNITED 7% 7%7%......? PROUD DAUGHTER OF RODNEY GRILLO LOCAL ONE
Comments: Hello Brothers and Sisters from Local 21 Dallas Fort Worth. I Look at Your web site regularly hoping for some good news. I hope you all managed to have a Happy Holiday some how through out this lock out. Whats really crazy about this, is neither side wants this. All we want is to work with a little respect dignity. And the office people don't want to be out there in the impossible situation they are in. I guess my question would be then why would the companies put their employees and customer base in this situation? Didn't Otis have record profits last year? |
