Comments: Dear local 1 members...stay strong. Were all behind you and discuss your fight daily. I work downtown here in Chicago (for 1 of the Emany cos). You wouldn't believe the effect this lockout is having on your local 2 brothers. A co-worker just convinced a major bldg mgmt company to not sign a future service contract (800,000 yearly) with the strike/lockout clause. It seems the company did not waiver and fought it. Until Thyssen came forward and said they would be glad to sign it and hire the mechanics that have taken care of the job for over a combined 140 years. The big three company then got a renewal but had to drop that clause. NOW when Thyssen/Fuji signs in 2007 this major contract can be voided. immediately. The bldg. management just had a national conference with their managers to seek the same with all they're properties. I think our local and all locals need to think of these and other tactics to make us stronger. Stay Strong...were with you. Hope to see some pictures of Chicago scabs...they will pay...rest assured.
P.S I never thought I would root for New York...go local 1... and the Cubs!
Comments: I wanted this to be a separate message to all, even EMANY.
May God Bless you all and keep everyone safe and as you continue with your differences may He guide you to an Agreement. Remember Him today!
Seek Him and pay Him the Honor that is do Him at this Most Blessed time of year, Easter, He is Risen! Because He lives so can we!
Comments: Greetings Again Brothers from Akron, Ohio Hang Strong!
EMANY’s Plan According to the very vague shift work scheduling proposed, it seems to me that EMANY would be able to very easily work elevator constructors 24 hours around the clock without the need to pay any overtime whatsoever. HMMM! Who does EMANY intend to do the hoisting of materials? That doesn’t seem to be of much importance to them any longer? I have been working at this trade for nearly forty years now and have been lead to believe that this equipment was very expensive and delicate and needed special care and handling, is that no longer true? Who do you, EMANY, think should do this work of ours? The laborers, the ironworkers, the operators or who? Maybe Walmart employees could do this to pay for their benefits they do not receive. How about the GPS! How exactly will GPS make your company more efficient? What kind of services are you talking about? As far as a more efficient dispatching system, I believe you will find still so many hours per day and so many employees to get the work done. Why the hell would you need GPS in the vehicle if everyone carries one as a phone? But what the hell will you do if someone steals the vehicle? Oh no, better put the damn thing in them too so you can track the thief. But I do agree with you on this issue, they will not change what we do. But the good news is that what we do doesn’t need changed. It is what you do that needs changed and the sooner you recognize that the better off the industry and your companies will be. Get off your ass and do your job and you will see that we are in fact doing ours. What service industries recognize GPS as the best way to streamline services to customers? EMANY if you control 60% of the elevator trade in New York as you have said you do, then who the hell is involved as your highly competitive competition? My plan! Instead of worrying about where your employees are via GPS, why don’t you use the damn phone to call that employee to tell him that you will actually meet him on the jobsite and thereby know that he is doing his job while at the same time you might improve yours too. Who knows you may even learn something useful about an elevator! By the way, while you are there you might even meet the customer so he would know who the hell you are. Also, now you would know whether or not the employee was safe or injured first hand if you really do care.
Comments: People are asking about if we have a rally planned for KONE, and the answer is NO. Why would we waste our time on such a non factor. If this lockout goes on any longer, KONE won't have a freaking job left! I wonder where Dick Pelizzi will end up? Remember, we need a great turnout at the big fish Otis on Monday. Bring your whistles and other means to make noise. The rally starts at 8am. Bye Bye KONE!!!

Comments: today I got a letter in the mail from kone, they try to tell us that a drywall taping contractor recieved no wage change. listen I dont want to tell you a tapers job is not a good job but a taper does not go out at 3 am on christmas eve or any other holiday and walk up any number of stairs to remove a person from an elevator , or work on any major holiday to make sure the cars are kept running, brothers and sisters keep the fight stong, see you all on monday at otis
Comments: Happy Easter: Brothers&Sisters of Local One and all member’s of the I.U.E.C. The Rank and File of Local One didn’t want a lock out or strike. Our negotiation committee worked hard and long hours to bring a fair contract for us to vote on. Only to be Locked Out by Otis, Schindler & Kone A (ENEMA). We would rather be working because it’s what we love to do. Building elevators, maintenance, service and repair. No one wants to be out of work. To some Brothers/Sisters, it’s the best thing that could have happened. These would be the so called GO TO guys & gals for the company. They have no idea what Article IV of our contract is all about. They run through there ass to get ahead “Look what I did!”. Well Brothers & Sisters look where you are now – LOCKED OUT – like all of the other brother & sisters standing side by side somewhere in the fight with your Local One Brother & Sisters. REMEMBER it is our work our business and they hire I.U.E.C. qualified people to install, maintain, service and repair their product. IT IS OUR BUSINESS!!!! As for 777 Fantastic!!!!!! Give up 7 to work 8 NEVER…. When did they ever sit out on a port-a-john at 10 degrees or below, or 85 degrees and above, deal with the heavy rush hour traffic to and from the job in all weather conditions? Seven hours is enough for me. As far as double time going to time & ½ I DON’T THINK SO!!!! I feel if they want me to give up time with my family they should have to pay double the rate and then maybe I would consider it!!! BUT – 777 – SOUNDS GREAT NO GIVE BACKS
I COULD BE IN A YES MODE Keep up the good work Brothers & Sisters, thanks to all I.U.E.C. members for their support!
Brother Kevin M Keith Card #1169
Comments: TO MR. PAUL PARIOS KONE I think Mr. Paul Parios needs to really get a grip on life and put more effort in signing a fair and reasonable contract. He seems to forget the last 5 year contract was in there favor and now its our turn. It will be interesting to see how our inferior management staff will recover from all the damage and hard feelings they caused themselves and there employees and customers. KONE will never be the same if there is even a company to come back to. You see KONE's managment is not only inferior but very hypocritical. They practice taking over the #1 spot in saftey and being ontop. Any person with commonsence knows KONE has no business running with OTIS and SHINDLER, they should have signed a far and resonable contract and then grew by getting jobs and growing bigger on there way to the top, not aggravating there customers and employees. KONE was not on there customers best sides to begin with due to there great management relations with customers. I thought i seen it all but KONE New York tops the cake i really believe (and im sure im not alone) that KONE managment needs to be fired and readressed, becasue right now A 5 YEAR OLD COULD RUN IT BETTER!!!!!!! YOURS TRULEY, 777 FAIR CONTRACT
Comments: Dear Brothers & Sisters Some more photos of our loyal local 1 members. Have a safe & Happy Easter http://www.msnusers.com/lockout

My son belongs to local 1, my brothers belong to local 1..I'm pissed with the thought that companies exist only on dollars n cents...when will schindler and all the rest of those companies locking out there employees realize that without all of us there is no dollars n cents. My Family and all of you work very hard for every penny we earn. Our name and our pride is what customers know.Stay strong, be safe, be smart..Phil williams sr. Comments: I found the following under job description for mechanics on the Otis website: "Mechanics and Technicians" Working Safely Mechanics and Technicians are vital to Otis! Our Mechanics and Technicians interface with our customers daily. They are highly trained and skilled individuals with a passion for installing, servicing, and modernizing elevators and escalators and they are committed to Otis’s safe work practices. How can they allow untrained people to work on your elevators.
Comments:
My husband has been a local 1 mechanic for 20 years, before him my dad was " in the business " for 37 years, in 1972 when I was kid my dad was out for 7 months, he fought the fight as we all must fight now, yes " WE" all the propaganda sent to our homes from SWINDLER is a mute point, now when i get mail from SWINDLER I don't even open it right in the garbage, if it doesn't have my husbands well earned pay check it's Garbage. Scott Stadlemen if you think your propaganda is going to divide families and get us to not support our husbands your greatly mistaken , all it does is anger me and strengthen our bond, we will never accept your proposals, if 7 months was necessary in 1972 then whatever it takes in 2005, it's your call EMANY , We are prepared to work today and also prepared to sit it out Today. To All our Families out there stay strong, Enjoy this Holy Holiday. And God Bless The John Meadus Family.
Comments: Brothers and Sisters, The post I put up about the unemployment info was for NY State . New Jersey and New York have different unemployment rules. Sorry if this confused anybody. To change your claim from laid off to LOCKED OUT you need to speak to an agent from the unemployment agency or send a certified letter to NY State unemployment agency. Stay STRONG!!!
Comments: One of our now EX-brothers have betrayed us and we want to show him how we feel. There will be a rally set for 8:30 am on Sunday. We will meet at the Freehold Mall in Freehold New Jersey. The mall is located on Route 9 . We will met in front of the JC Pennys. Please bring your wife and kids to see what type of person would do this. I can not tell you who it is so don't call me and ask, it is better when it is a surprise!!! I know that it is Easter but we need all the support we got to show this SCAB what he has done to our Families. Please let me know if you plan on attending. This is a great place for the Brothers and Sisters that are WORKING WORKING right now to lend some support!!! Get off your asses because we are at WAR!!! The WORKING WORKING is a very strong HINT!!! Think about it! A Very Pissed Off, Frederick McCourt
Comments: I've never been so proud to have so many family members and friends involved in Local 1. Stay strong boys!!
Comments:
Hello my fellow brothers and sisters. I have been following the web site for the last few days since I am unable to attend any functions because of my knee surgery (Hope to see everyone after Tuesday of next week.) I am very impressed with the showing of support at 1211 6th Ave. this past week. And hope that with each day this so called company keeps us locked out of our jobs that the amount of people seen only increase.
I have been following several aspects of these negotiations and with each day become more and more frustrated at what I read. I want to give a tremendous shout to Ray Hernandez for those inspiring letters which he has sent to EMANY on behalf of us. These letter state the facts and as long as EMANY refuses to listen then we must stand strong and do what is in our best interest.
Many of my brothers and sisters have seen SCABS taking the food out of our families mouths and some have even been shocking to us to witness. There are people who we would have never believed would be doing this to us however, they are and we must stay strong.
In closing, thanks for all those who are reporting each day and night on behalf of all members and thanks to the negotiation committee. Everyone stay strong and stand united. Hope to see everyone next week.
