Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Tomorrow November 4th is Election Day. Please get out and VOTE!. This election without a doubt the most important election since I have been voting since 1980. This election will not only decide the next president as well as your local leaders but will decide the future and promise of our children and grandchildren.
I will not use Mikes web page to ask you to vote for one or the other, I will stress that you MUST make an educated decision , get ALL the facts and then and only then make an Educated vote. Their are too many subjects to discuss regarding who will lead our country for the next 4 years. Black or White , I am grateful that no one named Bush is running , although I wish George a long and happy retirement
We are also just over 4 months from our own contract vote on March 17th. We all need to make sure we are as prepared as we can be not only as a UNION , but also as individuals. I encourage all our Union members to discuss and get involved in the upcoming contract. The airline machinists ratified ( Boewing) their contract and we should be very proud of their firm stance in these challenging economic times.
Most of all I hope this post finds everyone doing well. As always I remain and educated, involved and truly proud union member of Local One IUEC since 1982. Continue to check and challenge one another for your  RED paid quarterly card . Please take the time to assist and educate the younger or less experienced brother or sister working next to you everyday.
 Respectfully submitted Brother Brian Link
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!!!!

The Local One Support Group has made the decision to suspend the regularly scheduled group meetings.  We will meet now on a "as needed" basis.  Anyone who would like to meet with us, at any time, can give us a call.  We thank Lenny and the e-board for all the support and help they have given to us.

Dear Brothers and Sisters
There are members that think that paid sick days should be part of our collective bargaining agreement. Sounds great but let's think about this first. This money will just come out of the envelope. We will be giving the employers more of our money to manipulate, just like they do with the holiday pay. (ie layoffs before holidays, not hiring until "after the holidays", etc) Also we will be losing additional pay plus premium pay if we work overtime, therefore giving the companies more of our hard earned money.
Thank You
Rick Crossnohere

I have sad news to report, to any one who knew Brother Eugene Bush, He passed away yesterday, Gene had worked for Otis and Westinghouse/Schindler, As a family friend and a co-worker I knew Gene to be a stand up guy whom I could always count on to be there if I needed him. Gene was someone who every time you meet him was the straight from the hip no nonsense guy you could rely on. He will be sorely missed. His passing at such a young age doesn't seem right.

Gene will be waked at;
Michael Higgins funeral home,
113 lake Rd. Congers N.Y. (845) 634-6110
Sunday the 26th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm
Mass will be on Monday @ 11am and will be at
St. Pauls R.C. Church, Lake Rd. Congers, N.Y.

Hello and greetings to all...  As always we hope this posting finds everyone and their families in good health and spirits.  We would like to wish Brother Jimmy Connolly, a man who we are proud to call a friend, a BIG congratulations on receiving his 35 year pin at tonights union meeting.  On a sadder note, how many of us out here are very upset at the darn Mets.  I know for one Paul and I are.  There is always next year...YEAH RIGHT...lol  I would also like to wish Herbie Agnello a Happy 3rd Birthday.  For those of you who do not know us personally, Herbie is our puggle...lol  We had also welcomed Mia into our home 5 months ago.  Mia is a 3 year old puggle as well. Well that is all for now.  As always, work safely.  Until next time.

Just wanted to wish Phil Demino a Happy 80th Birthday10/14/1928

Phil retired from Westinghouse/Schindler 18 years ago and is still going strong. He doesn't miss the Bosses, the Beeper or the Bullshit, just the guys.  Phil is still living in Queens and likes to hear from the guys still working. He can't believe what we get for our annuity an hour or what pension credits are up to! He plays golf twice a week and could tell you to the minute when the mailman will get there.  Retirement has been great to him! Happy Birthday from the Local One Demino Gang; Big Lou(Brother,Retired), Dean(nephew), Guy(nephew), Scott(son), Steven(son)
